If i could give less than 1 star i would. I brought my husband here to have a routine procedure. He has liver cancer and requires his abdomen to be drained of fluids that build up because of his liver not functioning properly. I have to say that the nurse in ER was wonderful and she clearly did all she could to help make a very long and tedious process better. But when we were moved up to the 3rd floor, things deteriorated rapidly. We were promised to be "first in line" for the procedure. The attending physician came to the room around 10 am and said it would be "a few minutes". An HOUR later, the nurse comes in and tells us "the procedure has been cancelled because doctor put in duplicate orders". We were told that there were 10 outpatient appointments BEFORE us now.

This review is in regards to an ER visitation experience. First the positives: My family member received a bed within 30 min of waiting, which was very swift. The facility was clean, even the bathrooms. I also felt very safe here. The cons: the 4 nurses I encountered all seemed like they did not care for patients. I do not like to say this, but all were a little snobby for a hospital setting, where patient care should be provided with more humility and compassion. And though my family member was in the EMERGENCY room, the nurses acted like there was no urgency. What's worse than that is their lack of empathy. This was not only disappointing, but very concerning. I see nurses care for animals more. Another thing that needs improvement on is their communication skills. Obviously patients and family members are normally worried and anxious, especially when they don't know the cause(s) of symptoms, and what medications are being used. Yet nurses did not really explain clearly. I had to go look for them to ask for updates on the patient's condition. Not only did they make me have to ask, they made me feel like I was bothering them, as if I was wasting their time. Yes, I know here are other patients as well, but that doesn't mean they should make us feel neglected. I really think the whole ER nursing crew needs to be re-trained on how to do their job, and show more empathy, humility and compassion toward patients as if they were their own family. Maybe other department nurses are much more caring and has better communication skills, but I do not recommend this ER.

I had back surgery and was treated unbelievably well at every step. My Operating Prep nurse, Christine (not sure of spelling) was fantastic! Put me at ease and couldn’t have been more friendly. Actually went into surgery laughing and smiling. All of my nurses were friendly and professional. This place is the best.

I recently had hip replacement surgery and felt the need to post a positive review. The staff at Orange Coast Memorial Care was top notch. Everyone, from the admitting staff, nursing, supporting specialists, and especially my doctor was capable with a terrific bedside manner. I stayed for two nights and couldn’t be happier with my surgery outcome and the way I was cared for while I was there. Thank you so much to everyone!
