Came for my sons dental surgery.
We were instructed to be here by 8:15. They REFUSED to tell us when his surgery would be or even an ESTIMATE of what time it would be.
We checked in, went smooth. Taken to our room to wait in tell the procedure.
Finally about 9:15 the anesthesiaologist came in to tell us everything was running on schedule and his procedure should start on time at 11:15....
I said why do you have us show up so early, refuse to tell us what time will be. He said “because if people knew they had to wait 3 hours before a surgery they would not show up”. I replied they could give a general idea. Then he replied with “we have people not show all the time and it’s frustrating as a medical team.” He said it was hospital policy and that’s the way it is. He was VERY rude and “matter of fact”. If you don’t like it, go somewhere else.
Well, as a parent of a special needs child, keeping a child happy and NO FOOD OR DRINK tell 11:15... It’s NOT ok to withhold information because it’s not convenient for the HOSPITAL!?!
What happened to caring about the patient!?
MAYBE, the reason people don’t show up is because you REFUSE to tell them the truth.
Oh by the way you are required to show up 3 HOURS before your surgery. Give people an option.
You lie to them, they don’t show up.
