Long overdue review from 4 years ago. My face wound up paralyzed with what wound up being Bells Palsy. I was admitted because of the paralysis and another matter where my blood work was indicating I had a heart attack. They wanted to run a series of tests. I did not wind up with any serious issues, but every doctor with whom I met addressed my smoking over the 2 days I was there. They were not too pushy, but said the right things at the right time. After I was discharged, I smoked my remaining cigarettes on the way home, went to bed, and haven’t touched one since. Thanks, VA! You may think you are preaching to a brick wall when trying to get smokers on board with quitting, but sometimes you hit a home run!! Yes, I gained some weight, but I also took up running and my cholesterol (always high) is now normal without medication. My family and my lungs thank you😃
2 weeks ago when he came for CT scan they left him SITTING in the room for ALMOST 3hours. A DOCTOR stopped by because he felt bad for him. When the Dr. Asked for his file they said it's lost. Nobody bothers to tell him that.
So today he had a out patient procedure scheduled for 830am. Woke up at 4.00am. Got on the road by 5.00am. Got here at 7.00am
Checked in at 7.20 am. He was supposed to have been the first patient guess what they took him last because a nurse told the Dr. We didn't check in on time. He was here and earlier then what he was asked for..I go ask the front desk at 9.30 am what was the hold up. Well he was going to be the 2nd patient now. Ok. So it happens. 8.30 I ask for the nurse in charge and its Ceci. I asked if she could find out what was going on. She calls someone and tells. E he's not going for another hour and a half to two hours. I enquired why. She doesn't even look at me keeps doing what Ever she's doing and I asked do u even care. Her response. Yes I do. While not even looking up. Wow. Called a friend at the marina va and was advised to contact patients advocate here. Gwenth Lenox called at least 6 numbers before she emailed
Vilma corpuz.they emailed back and forth. I came back to the room on the 3rd floor and he's taken downstairs. Not to get the procedure started but to move him. I talked with vilma for few minutes and told her what a mess the last 2 visits have been. I came to the front desk to find out what was going on at 2.00pm and he wasn't done it started. Go back to the front desk.and hes not back. I had to ask if they can please call to find out if he was okay . Then they called. He just got back from the procedure 4.30.Wow. He's alive. Procedure went well. Thank God for the good DOCTOR...
Anyone reading this please be your own advocate because the 3rd floor people really don't care until they get caught.
By far the absolute best healthcare facility I've ever been to. I've cared for two veteran friends and the service they receive here is without comparison. From a simple run to emergency, to a normal Dr's visit, all the way to IC, the staff, care, attentiveness, technology, equipment, design, function is top shelf...... It truly makes me proud of how we care for our veterans, they deserve this level of attention.
This is a place for Veterans and Active Duty Military Personel of United States of America. This Facility is Extremely Proffessional and Caring and Respectful of its Military Personel Past and Present.
Its a Real Honor to be Treated by these Fine People who Staff and Billet Here.
The nursing staff was wonderful doctors make sure your pan was under control
