What has happened to the Phoenix VA, besides all the corruption in the news. I have been going to this VA for 15 years. This Hospital has slowly turned-changed into a "Prison-Complex." The Hospital grounds has turned into a over-done security-police presence. If you visit any other hospital in Phoenix you can not only see the difference, but feel a difference atmosphere. When you walk into the grounds of the Phoenix VA it not only feels unwelcoming, but it feels like you're walking onto a " prison-unit."
Who is the moron who approved not only all the architectural changes, but the massive police-security presence???
At least a few years ago when you walked into the hospital grounds it had a more welcoming atmosphere for patients, even though you had corrupt administrators. But , now it's not a visually appealing, or welcoming place to come for medical treatment. If you ever worked in any prison facility you would see, feel and understand what I am sharing.

If you're interested in this facility, it's fair to say, you may be a Veteran. If you are, understand that this rating is for this visit. As most of the Veterans in the community already know, we here often for visits and for the majority of them this place is far less than decent. I have witnessed a great deal of change in the recent years and the VA Hospital in Phoenix progressively gets better. Although we will all have our bad days, this visit, for me, was one of the better ones. Wait time in Jade Opal was down to less than 10 minutes, the staff was genuinely friendly and assisting, and my fairly recent Dr. was very helpful and caring. There's always going to be those days where the facility or the faculty do not meet your ideal mindset, however, if you need help, come back and give them the opportunity.

Praying for services to improve for all veterans. But can not complain, nurses and doctors are the best. Getting appointments is where improvement is needed. Keep up the good job, nurses and doctors!!

Do not come to the ER during the daytime. You will wait for hours before getting seen. And after being seen briefly, you will wait again for several more hours for test results. I don't understand it. Probably a doctor shortage.

Takes some time to get an appointment, unless you are dying, but the caregivers / providers are excellent. Dr Flyte in midtown clinic is excellent. Yeah- parking at the VA hospital itself sucks but that's true of ALL Phoenix.
