Our first experience with Tecumseh hospital at the Emergency department was nothing but positive. Well worth the drive. Everyone working at this time was able to work with us very fast & efficiently. The staff, nurses, specialists & doctors were all VERY nice and acted in a caring, yet professional manner. The nurse's and doctor were all very helpful with answering all of our questions and adressing all concerns we had. The doctor was able to explain a few things in layman's terms for me, so I could better understand some of the unfamiliar medical terms. Upon arriving and parking in front of the main emergency room doors, I was aware of the outside area and the sidewalks grass etc. It was neat and tidy. The water sprinklers were on (it was VERY early morning hours) and the grass was squishy/soggy, but the sidewalk areas were dry and clear. The main entrance and registration area was clean. The lady working at Registration was very sweet and helped us to figure out some issues on the computer causing an insurance mix-up of sorts. This particular visit to the Emergency Room was by far the fastest from beginning to end that I've ever experienced compared to numerous surrounding hospitals. I was pleasantly surprised! I'm kinda sad to learn that they will soon be closing the doors of Tecumseh's Herrick Hospital. Wish I'd known way sooner how well the staff worked together and for their patients. Hopefully we won't be back to visit again, but if the need arises this is where we will go!

Was told I had a migraine and sent home even though I was fairly certain I had a stroke. The staff refused to call my mother multiple times, stating they didn't have her number even though she's my emergency contact. 2 days later I ended up at U of M, where they found out I'd had 3 strokes, 2 out which could have been prevented if Herrick Hospital hadn't written me off so quickly.

The Nelsons (Mr but mostly Mrs.) do whatever they what, to whoever they want, when they want. They dont make the best judgment call for your care. Herrick and BIXBY are both very dangerous hopsitals to seek help through if you have any kind of mental health condition. Please go to CHELSEA ER St Joes or U of M before making the mistake of taking a loved one or yourself here. Im hoping these doctors wont come back after the new hire comes with the new hospital.

Should either be restaffed or shut down. I went in with a corneal abrasion some months ago and yes they did give me the right eye drops and eye ointment but boy are they an irritated bunch of medical "professionals". When I told the doc I did not prefer to take the pain meds he prescribed he simply told me "you can't complain about pain if you don't take the pills" which I had no complaint of pain, just informing the doc I don't agree with prescription meds especially addictive ones. More recently my wife had taken our two year old son in for a small bump on his inner thigh (keep in mind Herrick is the closest hospital to us for any emergencies). Unfortunately they told my wife it's probably just a mosquito bite and scoffed at her. The next day this bump had grown, swelled, turned red surrounding the bump, and was warm to the touch. So my wife took our son to a different hospital in a city about fifteen minutes farther away only to find out it is a bite, not by a mosquito, and now it is infected. Thanks to Herrick and there incompetence, I now need to give my poor boy oral antibiotics which I know doesn't seem so bad, but when your baby constantly refuses or rejects the medicine with every tactic... It's hell. If you live in Tecumseh or nearby, take your chances at the hospital in Adrian, you'll get actual help there. Thanks

YOU MAY HAVE TO PAY YOUR ER DOCTOR SEPARATELY. ProMedica doesn't pay their ER Doctors at Herrick. The hospital may be in network, but the ER Doctors aren't. The staff is friendly and the facility is very nice, but they are not competent. They called a Cardiologist to consult for my EKG and he misdiagnosed me. They put me on medication I did not need which had a harsh side effect profile. They definitely need better protocol for diagnosing heart problems, especially in younger people.
