Because it is a place that is based in faith. And the hospital prays almost every day. And they have the most experienced doctors.

I was hospitalized here back in 2006 before it became “Providence”. I had survived being murdered by Adelaida Barnuevo Villamor who was an R.N. there. They fired both her and her sister Lizel Barnuevo Pazon as a result of that. After I was discharged they actually sent me to live back home with my abuser who was an accessory to my murder Jon Villamor. What kind of hospital would do such a stupid thing? Nurses are supposed to be the patients advocate. Why did they only fire Adelaida and not pull her nursing license??? Why didn’t they warn the patient of what danger they were in being back at home in San Pedro? For that they deserve an F. No reasonable hospital staff would allow a patient to go home if they have an abuser living there who was homicidal and wanted them dead not for what they did but for who they are. This is the worst hospital. Homophobia is both a mental illness and a disease yet homosexuality is none of those things. And yes Myra and Mark Villamor are both ”accessories after the fact” to the murder yet one can still practice law and the other one can work in some government job that requires serious background checks. Those two are examples of how the system fails to protect. This hospital protects the murderer but puts the patient back in harms way. And this was Providence in San Pedro California. Not Illinois nor anywhere else

We were considered a "two-fer" my son was injured and so, was I. From the moment we walked in all the way to discharge it was a wonderful experience. The wait was not long in ER. I can't recall a time when my wait at this ER was long which is why I make the drive to Providence of San Pedro. It's like a well oiled machine the operations of it all runs smoothly. We were seen by the nurse practitioner, then the ER doctor ( but I had no idea he was the doctor because he was so casual and humble) then Matthew. I remember Matthew. We had a fun time like we were chatting it up with buddies at home. Everyone was so sweet, and rapid in their efforts to let us move forward in life.

Do they have black nurses there. Hospital has a BAD reputation for getting rid of black nurses. I've never seen one. Maybe I went on their days off. Anyhoo I was treated well but had to wait longer than usual at emergency. But once I was seen they were nice. #keepitreal
