Typical VA experience. Little to no attention by staff, obviously nothing is wrong with me, and move on out so we can bring in and neglect another veteran. ER (Urgent Care) was worse than the worst public ER I've been to. Will be leaving here to go pay out of pocket expenses to get PROFESSIONAL healthcare elsewhere. Didn't even see a doctor during my time today. Didn't even get an ibuprofen or even a recommendation to change my socks and hydrate. My blood pressure actually rose by the time I left. I won't even go into detail on the other noticeable issues with this facility and staff. Will be walking away from the VA for good this time. This was my first time back in over 5 years and I now remember why I stopped relying on Veteran's Affairs. Highly, highly dissatisfied.

I absolutely LOVE Hunter Holmes McGuire VA hospital, the are the very BEST and their Staff and Medical teams are second to none! I always walk out of McGuire with a smile on my heart and know I received the top shelf treatment of any VA Facility in the Nation, bar none!

A rep called me on the morning of my appointment and told me the doctor called out sick and that they would call me back to reschedule. I waited 2 weeks and nothing. I called to reschedule and they stated I was a "no call no show" for that appointment. I'm furious! The operator said she didnt see any notes in the system and the doctor was present that day. They prey on people. It was a payday and they probably were ready to go home. It's really heartbreaking and so upsetting that someone would do that to me.

I have been receiving treatment at McGuire for decades but only because I cannot afford private insurance. The hospital tends to used medical students instead of hiring fully trained, accredited doctors and my health has all too often paid the price. I have had to wait up to six months just to see a primary physician and even longer to see a specialist. I had to wait over a year for McGuire to approve outsourcing for my hysterectomy while I suffered in pain because they do not perform women's surgeries. I recently obtained my medical records from McGuire and am shocked at the outright lies that doctors and clinicians have written in my permanent medical files. It is absolutely disgusting. I will no longer go seek treatment there, even if it means being sick. I would rather go into debt and be seen at an E.R. at another hospital than to let anyone at McGuire VAMC ever treat my medical needs again. The only exception I can find in that dismal place is Dr. Erin Lindsay Reese in Dermatology. She is truly a wonderful doctor.

I've been going there since 91 and have only seen the same primary care physician a handful of times. Primary care is a joke.
If you can get them to refer you for treatment to the physical therapy or other clinics you will get decent treatment. The clinics are the reason I gave stars at all.
