I've been meaning to write this review for months now (end of February visit)! We had such a WONDERFUL experience at this hospital and it even started with the phone call I made to the hospital before deciding to go there (since we weren't sure if we should go to Norway considering we were staying at Sunday River). When we arrived, the nurse was ready for us and we got checked-in immediately! My young son's face had swollen to the point he was almost unrecognizable! My husband and I didnt know if he fell skiing or if he had a tooth issue since he was complaining about tooth pain. Long story short, EVERY PERSON we encountered at this hospital was extremely caring, considerate and accommodating!

We live near Boston so we are blessed to be next to the best hospitals in the world. Thankfully the nurses and kind doctor was willing to talk through every possible scenario with me and they really thought it was an abscess, likely caused by a cavity (which was surprising since I recently had my son at the dentist). They at least treated my son's "potential infection" and it's a good thing they did!! His face got even more swollen after leaving the hospital. Guess what? I had my son at the dentist the next day and THE DOCTOR WAS RIGHT!!! It was an abscess caused by a cavity!

MANY THANKS to all of the outstanding nurses & the Dr. Who took great care of my son and gave us a correct diagnosis, while immediately treating the infection. THANK YOU!! We will visit this hospital any day!

We were on vacation for exactly 1 1/2 hours when I fell and broke my ankle in 2 places. Being from Boston, I can't say I was exactly thrilled with having to go to an emergency room in Rumford, Maine. I was very, very wrong. The staff was attentive, caring and all around wonderful. The Doctor on duty did an amazing job setting the bone and splinting it until I could get to an orthopedic surgeon. Spent the rest of my vacation with my foot up, but with minimal pain. Thank you again to all of you on duty last Thursday!

My review is based solely on the emergency department. I had gone in there with a mild fever, upper back pain, shortness of breath amount other issues. All they did was test my urine, which was fine and discharged me. The next day I was taken via ambulance to Franklin memorial with severe tachycardia and high blood pressure. My d diner level is elevated and I’m undergoing more testing.
Go somewhere else. Your health is worth it! The Er doc just looked unprofessional in many ways. No one likes to make eye contact with you, and I waited 4 hours for a urinalysis. I shared a room with another lady who go there, she was having pain near her bladder. They did her urine and she had an answer before I did. She was there less than 1hr! What’s up with that?? So unprofessional.

I've been here for 3 hours with my mother. The LNP that we've seen was informative when it came to answering my questions but that was it. He came in once for about 15 mins.

I have tried getting someone here in this ER to answer some questions I had. After all it's not everyday you learn your mom has a blood clot in her leg that may have traveled to her lungs.

You would think that the nursing staff would take the time to talk to you. But NO the most I can get is an answer while they continue to walk away.

Are they really to busy they can't even stop and answer a question with eye contact? 😠
I am not impressed with this place at all and I'm going to have my mother transferred for a second opinion.

Update - The nurse practitioner, Bill, that was on duty came back and has spent time talking with us. He also made eye contact!
Thanks Bill for showing me that there is someone in this ER that knows how to talk to people.
