feedback about Shands Starke Regional Medical Center
Overall, I had a good and quick experience. I came here after visiting the Lake Butler Hospital where they told me nothing was wrong. I was very frustrated, so when I got to Shands I told the doctor all the tests that came back from the other hospital were fine and I just wanted to get a CT Scan. He listened, gave me some medicine that actually helped me, and then got the CT scan done. He found something on there that could be related to my symptoms and referred me for more testing.
Went in with a smashed hand. Several broken bones. Didn't even set the broken bones or cast it. Charged me 386 dollars for I b profin and a doctor to send me somewhere else. Crappy staff and the doctor had a bad attitude. Won't be going back here.
Worst ER ever. Had a wire stuck in my foot. They said they couldnt yank it out. Tried to convince me i needed surgery and then forced me to take a ambulance to gainsville.
The worst emergency room visit I have ever had. Went in for.a fish bone stuck in my throat. The doctor NEVER looked in my throat. I spent 3 hours there and got "you need to see a gastrointinlogist". They took xrays of my throat and said that they "think" they saw something there. They said I need a CAT scan and I told them absolutely not after spending 3 hours twiddling my thumbs in the exam room. The doctor did not even want to see in my throat! I can look in my throat in the mirror and see a problem. I don't know why Shands wants to lend their name to this place. NEVER AGAIN!
Had a great ER experience but absolutely terrible admitted experience. Most of the nursing staff don't belong anywhere near healthcare. My boyfriend literally overheard one of them gossiping about me at the nurses station as he walked by, including my medical information. There is no sense of urgency or empathy with most of the staff.
But, Chris from the pharmacy and Mital are great.
