I am very pleased with the workers and service here. My grandmother as been in here for a few weeks and everyone who as been here to visit and myself have all good experiences. The nurses are very gentle and caring, and they frequently come to check in. The room is always clean. The food here is good. We have been here previous times before for other issues and it is the same sitution, nobody is ever rude. I recommend this hospital over the others in Springfield.

I have to give St. Johns a poor review because of one nurse in ICU. I could go on and on about her attitude and lack of "ICU care". Dr. Chu and absolutely everyone else from check in to check out was wonderful. But believe me, one bad apple....... all the other nurses were very compassionate and well educated in their field. I must name the incompetent nurse, her name was Paige. I could say she is not ICU nurse ready...... but I do not think she is nurse material at all. Nice hospital, good cafeteria, easy parking. Everything is good. Except Paige in ICU "D".

Bad and great experience!
(Bad 1st) Went to wrong St. John’s building (cardiovascular pavilion)( which is extremely confusing to get mixed up because they are attached) and asked directions to cust service reps right inside the doors. I didn’t know where the surgery center was and thought I was in correct building. One lady didn’t speak English well and other was extremely rude and didn’t even try to be helpful. Acted like I was making a scene even though I was trying to get across the word vein surgery to lady who couldn’t understand what I was saying because she knew little English. Rude lady cut in and Said “ Can I Help You? She acted like she couldn’t understand Me either, like she was already irritated by my presence. Her help was saying I should of been given instructions! She said she was hard of hearing but, my daughter spoke in low calm voice in a way I couldn’t even hear and rude lady told her to go upstairs, they might be able to help? She said she was hard of hearing yet she heard my daughter? I talk loud because I have a hearing aid and partial loss
of hearing. She sent us on wild goose chase to find correct surgery center. Eventually a kind man helped me find correct building for my surgery. Next:The registration clerk at surgery center was cold, commanding, not caring. I was extremely stressed and upset by time I went into surgery prep area.
(Amazing experience)Rhonda was my attending nurse in surgery and she was a breath of fresh air. Actually even though I was on verge of tears and upset on the inside the entire surgery staff really calmed me and made the whole process smooth! Very blessed to have such a good doctor and wonderful nurses! 1 star went to 3 because of medical staff!!! They deserve 5 stars, hospital deserves 1. Advice, surgery checkin is confusing, I watched 6 people besides me go to surgery desk and then get sent to registration across the hall. Also St. John’s should hire friendly ,caring , good customer service reps to be the front line for your hospital. Very sick, in pain and disabled customers come through those doors all day, every day and need treated like humans not beggars. They are the 1st faces of your business!

January 2, 2019 I was rescued and saved from near death on the parking lot of this St John’s Hospital. We were driving back home to Springfield, Missouri when we decided to spend the evening and night in a local hotel..on our way to dinner, , I began to feeling like something was happening to me..believe it or not I was driving myself to the hospital..we made it to the hospital campus when we couldn’t see the Emergency Room... dialing 911 after my husband ran into the hospital for help... the 911 operator who kindly stayed with me every minute giving me hope that the ambulance was on the way, to the kind handsome ( not to far gone to see that) ambulance paramedic who knew exactly what to do to help me first, which was my moment of hope being renewed, to the quickness of the Emergency Room doctors and all staff ( one lady doctor even taking the time to brief our son of what was happening) I feel that I have been given a new day to live and will be eternally grateful for all that you did.
I must thank all the floor nurses, techs, phlebotomists, Respiratory personel, even the kind people in dietary and housekeeping ❤️ The International Medicine Doctor, the Cardiologist and his Cardioligy Nurse Practitioner and Educators🙏 And to the nurses in Cardiac Education who have already called me to follow up👍🏻
I am so grateful and my family is grateful for your quick actions.
Many times as hospital employees we see someone old, or overweight, rich or poor, but we don’t often see all the important things in their lives...I am a happily married woman with one adult child, a new Emergency Medicine Resident...I have two great sisters, a beautiful niece, 4 awesome nephews and over 20 great-nieces and nephews and a adorable 3 great l-great nieces n nephew! I spent 30 years as a medical nurse, a St John’s graduate and have had a rewarding life 🙏. I thank you and my family thanks you❤️

I can't say enough about the staff, surgeons and facility quality. I lived and worked with a c 5-6 hernia for almost a year before I found Dr. Neil Patel. I'm in the healing process from my ACDF but I can neither adequately pay them back nor can I give them enough praise for everything they did for me. A special thank you to the staff on 9 and ortho recovery.
