feedback about St Marks Hospital
We are planning the upcoming delivery of our baby at St. Mark’s Hospital, and recently completed the Labor and Delivery class they offer. We loved it! Classes met each Monday from 7:00-9:15, which was sometimes a bit late for us. However, I think earlier would have been difficult as well with work schedules. The teachers were very informative and helpful. They provided several different options to think about in the childbirth process, and my husband agrees that he feels much more equipped to be a part of the process. We learned lots of techniques he can use to help make the laboring more comfortable, and it really was a great bonding experience for new parents to share! I would definitely recommend the birthing classes at St. Mark’s!
Good and informative class for all the to-be parents. The instructor made sure that everybody understands all the basics and all the questions of the parents are solved. I would highly recommend to take this classes.
I really loved them.
Two words: Balance billing. I made the mistake of going to the emergency room at St. Marks without checking to see if they were covered by my insurance. The doctors who treated me were covered by my insurance and I was able to pay reasonable costs. What wasn't covered was a bill from St. Marks for me to sit in their ER for 4 hours while other people worked on me. That bill was about $5000 more that what my insurance company said was reasonable. Over a period of 8 months I have gone back and forth with the hospital, telling them the whole time that I would gladly pay what my insurance company said was reasonable.
Anyway, it ended up going to a collection company and through that process I was able to cut the bill in half and not have it show up on my credit. Half of the billed amount was still about $800 more than what my insurance said I should pay. But the funny thing is, St. Marks will probably end up getting less than I offered to pay the whole time, since they will have to pay the collection company. They could have saved us both the hassle and probably ended up with more money if they could have been flexible to begin with. They've probably hurt a lot of people financially with their business practices, people who are responsible and have medical insurance in place.
My husband and I just finished taking Destiny's Child Birth Prep class and we feel much more confident in how things are supposed to go and signs to look for when it comes to being in early/active labor. Looking forward to the Baby Steps class starting in March to learn how to care for our newborn once we are at home. We really like St. Marks Hospital and can only say good things about everybody there that has helped so far.
My husband and I are first time parents and took Destiny’s Childbirth class at St Marks. Understanding the labor and delivery process and also getting to tour the facilities was super helpful! The class was an open discussion environment and was a safe place to ask questions. We are really happy we’ve chosen St Marks, even though we live in Herriman, as we feel like we have been really take care of so far.
