Still waiting for surgery but the surgical staff seems nice. However, if I am just rating the admissions and pre authorization then it would be 1 star. They have been there biggest pain to deal with saying we owed money for the surgery even though we had met ALL out of pocket limits. Called 3 different days before the surgery and each day was disconnected, rerouted multiple times, told we would get a call back and finally after speaking to someone on the third day it seemed to be resolved. She didn't give me the"company answer" to everything... This is the most current insurance information and it's correct. She actually called our insurance and then called me back to say it was resolved and we owed nothing. All good right? No .. Show up to surgery and they tell us we need to pay again. We told them who we spoke to and they finally read the notes which said we didn't owe anything. Again, they kept giving us the company like... All the insurance info is correct. Well it can't be if they called and realized we didn't owe anything. Still having to resolve the previous visits bill... All while my husband is nervous as anything about this surgery. Completely RIDICULOUS and very disappointing how it's all been handled. I don't think I would want to ever come back if this is what we have to deal with to get a surgery done. They didn't even ask to see my husband's id when we checked in. Could be any one else at this point. Very frustrating.
All the staff in nice. The pharmacy works great with people. Parking does cost, but they also have Valet parking if needed. Food is actually pretty good in this hospital as well. God bless
Seen in the ER Once in the room Sophia & Jessica/ Nurses came to assist me. They didn't seem attentive. Information I provided for update was not inputted into system correctly I think Jessica was in training however I informed Sophia my I V was hurting in my right arm and she refused to check or take it out Not the type of treatment accustom to. Mary however came in later & was attentive and professional St Vincent has been the hospital I usually attend but the staff seemed less attentive to the patients. Also explained to them was experiencing dizziness and wasn't offered a wheelchair once checkout
The admission and pre registration is horrible to deal with prior to having surgery done. They have no compassion and add unnecessary stress to a stressful situation. They are the reason for the current scams happening were the elderly are swindled out of thousands of dollars due to the threat of cancelling surgery if the fee isn't paid up front. It's really sad that health care is no longer caring about the health of people and worse that it is from a catholic based hospital. Their aftercare where you wake up from surgery isn't very nice either. You are left feeling like you are on a production line with a nurse that would rather be anywhere but there and can't wait to pass you onto the next nurse.
St. Vincent’s Medical Center Riverside is the worst hospital I have ever been to. I have had not one but two very poor experiences here. My husband had surgery here six months ago, and we were not informed that his surgery was even scheduled till the day of when we received a call asking if we were coming. When we asked why we were not informed we were told that they forgot to call us the day prior. After arriving for surgery we waited for seven hours in pre op with no explanation as to why we had to wait so long. Once the surgery was completed we were rushed out because the surgery center was closing. We had to visit the ER two days later due to infection and the ER staff told us that they did not know what to do and that we were better off waiting for my husbands doctor. My husband visited the ER again this evening with a spider bite that was the size of a babseball. They made a cut to let it drain and sent him home with no medication. An hour later he was in very bad pain, had a high fever, and was shivering very bad. My husband and I were both very worried that something was wrong. I called the ER doctor that saw him and asked her if I should bring him back to the ER. She preceded to laugh and ask me what I thought she could do to help him. I called the doctor looking for help in a time of need, not to be laughed at. To say the least speaking to her was a waste of my time. I took my husband to a different hospital where they promptly took care of us and we were treated with respect. I will never be returning to St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Riverside.
