I interned here for about 4 months. Great place to work. This hospital is the perfect size: not too large, not too small. Two of my friends' wives delivered in this hospital and they had positive experiences.

I am writing specifically about my experience delivering a baby at this hospital. I was admitted through the ER as my water broke late at night, after the hospital’s business hours. Getting in and sent back to a room to be evaluated was very smooth and the check-in and attendants were matter-of-fact but respectful. You can imagine that they have to deal with a range of emergencies and emotions from visitors, and I appreciate that they didn’t get “worked up” but they also didn’t give special treatment. Once in labor and delivery, the nurses were very attentive but also gave us plenty of space - especially appreciated since I had to labor overnight and needed as much “sleep” as I could get without constant interruptions. The OB on call was also attentive but did not try to force and decisions or techniques upon me. My OB happened to be on call the next day and was able to deliver my baby, but we did require an emergency c-section. The way this was handled was also very professional, not overly dramatic or stressful, and the surgery attendants were very friendly, upbeat and explained everything to me as it was happening. Once baby arrived, we were promptly moved to a recovery room in the postpartum wing. The nurses and lactation consults here are wonderful and an excellent resource for moms. My only complaint is that I really did not like the pediatrician on call when we stayed. Research indicates that she only practices at this hospital.. so I hope not to experience her again.

I rate them a 1 because that is the lowest I can rate them. They billed me over 7 times the retail cost medication when I had an overnight stay. That's about 20 times the amount I could buy that same medication at a pharmacy for. For example: I pay 11 cents for 2 of the medicines they gave me. They charged me over $36 for those two pills. I am a senior citizen on a fixed income. I tried 4 times to get them to adjust the bill, but they basically said, too bad, pay the bill. For this reason, i will never go back to any of their locations. I only used them because my surgeon used them. I had no idea they would be so uncaring about one of their patients. This is price gouging to me. I had no advance notice that Medicare would not cover those drugs. Medicare calls them self adminisratable drugs. BE WARE IF YOU USE THIS HOSPITAL. The overall care for that 24 hr period was ok, but nothing to write home about.
About a week ago, someone from there responded to this post and said leave your name and number and we will call you back. And like I figured, no one did! They just want to support the hospital on the backs of senior citizens!
And now, I get a debt collector calling! Boy, it's the end of the year, and they're trying to get every penny they can, from fixed income people.

Giving birth here was an amazing experience but DON'T take your sick baby there. Go to cooks. The wait may be longer at cooks but we took our sick 7 month old to Harris and the doctor was in such a hurry we couldn't even ask any questions. He prescribed her flu medications without even testing her and literally walked out of the room when we were in the middle of asking a question. Thankfully when the nurse came back he was able to answer some questions but not all. It just feels like our doctor was very dismissive of us and our child.

I visited the ER on Oct. 15th. I was pleasantly surprised that I was taken right in to the ER. They determined I had a T12 compression fracture. I appreciated the kind attitude from the receptionist to the physician to the xray techs. Everyone I had contact with was super nice. I recommend this hospital for an emergency needs. Sherry Lee
