This is among the worst hospitals ever. If you're ever in an accident or get seriously sick while in this area, go somewhere else. Mt. Airy N.C., Whyteville, Pulaski and Dublin have better hospitals. I would highly suggest Radford Hospital if you can hold on long enough to get there.

This hospital doesnt deserve one star but in order to do a review I had to give thwm one star. I have been here in the past and agaon just yesterday and have always regreted it. Many others that I talk to have had terrible experiences just as I did the other day. I went to the ER for my shoulder and arm pain and the doctor did back xrays and said I was fine. I repeated that I was there for my shoulder and arm and they said that I needed to make an appointment with my primary care! I already told them that I didnt have a primary care but they rushed me out anyway. Do not ever go to this hospital or any facility that works through this hospital, I repeat, DO NOT GO TO TWIN COUNTY REGIONAL HOSPITAL! If you are dying still dont go because they will make your death slow and painful! My papers from the ER where I went for shoulder pain said that I have back pain??? My back is fine and doesnt hurt, only my shoulder and arm! Please, dont go here, EVER!

If you want to die terrified, come here! I was in a car accident in hillsville with my parents and by law the EMTs had to take us here and the one EMT kept reassuring us that we would be taken to a hospital in Winston Salem if my mom got worse as if she was warning us. The place looked like it hadn’t been touched since 1980. The idiot doctors took 3 hours just to figure out that my mom was having an asthma attack and finally gave her a breathing treatment. The nurses were horribly rude to my sister when she asked how my mom was doing until her friend who is an ICU nurse grilled the receptionist and had her almost in tears. They forced my mom to take an opioid pain pill when she didn’t want one and didn’t even ask what she was allergic to. After getting 1 bar of service since the place is in the middle of nowhere I was able to call my sister and have her pick us up because we wanted out of there ASAP! I understand that it’s in southern virginia but this is the most redneck place i’ve never seen. Do yourself a favor and stay as far away from this place as possible no matter what.

Beware. They outsource their ER doctors to unqualified doctors. McCarter is a poorly equipped physician. You are better off going to Web Md and treating yourself.

Waited over 40 minutes in lab for blood work and was not busy at the time
