I was at the UPMC ER from around 1:30 Till approx. 9:30 the past weekend. Was treated for an infection . The nursing staff was great. One nurse ( Kellie) found out that I and my husband hadn't eaten anything since lunch. She immediately went and got both of us snacks to eat while being treated. Thought that was very thoughtful.

I was admitted to UPMC East through the ER on 9/23/19. I was discharged last night, 9/25/19, at 9. I did not know that my stay in Unit T4W would cause me to reconsider my once negative perception of those who work in the health care field and the system as a whole. I want to start by saying that words cannot express the amount of gratitude I have for the outstanding team of nurses, techs, nursing students, the nurse in charge, Dr. Khan, Dr. Frempong, and PA Michelle. Simply put, your quality of care far exceeds any I have ever received and you are an asset to the medical community and your patients. Thank you to the UPMC Management, Board, and HR for providing this area with a quality medical facility which consists of exceptional men and women.

I truly do not understand how they feel it is okay, too place folks in a hall way with a small barrier around other people. Even if your that busy figure it out. Being able to hear everything as a patient what you are talking about is wrong to.

Have been sitting in the waiting room for 2 hours now, which is ALWAYS the case every time I’m here. This time I am having chest pains but I guess that doesn’t make a difference. Got triaged quickly but haven’t been called back yet. When I was here in January, I was brought in by ambulance but that didn’t make a difference either and had to sit in the waiting room for 2-3 hours with severe stomach pains and nausea. When I was FINALLY called back, I didn’t even get a room or even a bed with a curtain. I was on a bed in the hallway right by the main entrance doors where everyone was coming in. No privacy at all. The only reason I gave this 2 stars instead of 1 is because the staff is nice for the most part, especially the nurses and most of the doctors. I only come here because it’s closer to home but I may consider another hospital in the future.

If there was a NEGATIVE star I'd choose that. Went there with my husband who was having heart and blood pressure issues and despite having BP 246 / 148 with numbness in his face and neck pain they sent him back out to wait in the packed waiting room (after an ekg). People where everywhere, complaining about how long they'd been there, one woman was moaning with chest pain and the reception staff was rude. We waited 2 1/2 hours and NOTHING. We left and went to Shadyside were he received medical attention. AVOID this place at all costs.
