This hospital has a number of wonderfully talented personnel. The staff is outa this world. Even the food is heavenly. The place is clean & decent. Friendly & professional staff. But unfortunately I can only give 1 star, if wasn't for that Mr. Field's, I'd easily give 5. Why is he still there? Seriously?

Horrible experience. Via Christi has outsourced their billing department and it is a nightmare. Was told twice before a minor surgery what the cost would be, and prepaid my portion. After the surgery, I was sent a bill for double the original cost. I tried at least 10 times to find out why the cost doubled, and no one could tell me. Don't be fooled by their name ... this is now a greedy, heartless, uncaring hospital.

Update: After Via Christi's response below, I quickly emailed them a very detailed explanation of my experience. After 1.5 months, the only result of the "management investigation" is that I should call the customer service number again, which is the same department that couldn't answer simple questions the first 10 times that I called. This organization doesn't even deserve a 1 star rating.

Refused to treat at ER. Doctor said "We only treat emergency conditions. Get physical therapy."

Why then, would I be at an ER in the middle of the night because of the pain, if all I need is physical therapy?

If it really hurts, go somewhere else where they have real doctors that help those in need.

Update:

The very next day I called Via Christi and told them I would not pay anything because I did not receive treatment. However, I keep getting calls from Vituity about the bill. Of course, it is a run around and no clear way to dispute the bill with Vituity. They refuse to send a paper statement through the mail, but swear they have. The say they will contact Via Christi, but don't. The can't even prove legitimacy of their claim, but still demand I pay them.

So, disrespectful non-treatment at the ER and now a scam-like third party company harassing me about an illegitimate bill. Smells like fraud to me.

Second Update in reference to the following reply from Via Christi:

Calling that number is a waste of time. Before seeing that reply, I called it several times. The billing contractors would not tell me who to call to dispute the bills. I called several different numbers locally (the one listed included) and never received anything but "someone will call you back" which never happened until I asked to talk to a patient advocate. At least she called back and left a message. By the time I stepped out in the hall to return the call, all I could get is voicemail (imagine that!!!) and no return response.

Actually going to the hospital in person to file a complaint was futile as the workers there refused to help. When I tried to wrote down the first name of the receptionist she tried to hide her badge and threatened to call the police if I wrote down her name. Thanks for that Arely.

Thus far Via Christi (Latin for "Through Christ", who was the biblical saint of malpractice and fraudulent billing as shown by example of his earthly representative) has finally taken a complaint and...wait for it...said someone will call me back.

As for my actual condition when refused service: torn ligament in my shoulder as confirmed by MRI during the next three days. That doctor said I would need surgery if it didn't improve and gave me a steroid shot and A PRESCRIPTION FOR PAIN KILLERS. He did not tell me "We don't just give out drugs to anyone who asks"...which is what Via Christi's doctor (used in jest) told me.

I give 5 stars for everyone at this hospital!!! Especially the awesome Nurse's, (SPECIAL THANKS to nurse "JODY") top notch & extremely intelligent people!!! They go above & beyond duty X's1000. Every1 involved with this place, except for the Doctor/hospitalist who give's this place a bad name not to mention a bad rating. Mr. doctor Andrew Fields aka hospitalist in charge, is judgemental & an absolute "joke", & a shame to this hospital & his profession. He assume's, guesses, & blaintly lie's. Mr. Fields has no COMPETENCE, COMPASSION, or CREATIVITY what so ever. This hospitalist can't even diagnose ANXIETY. So he needlessly put me in the I.C.U. and kept me off my anxiety meds for 2 weeks which caused me to go into severe withdrawal's. He never did address this disorder correctly, appropriately or professionally. Then when I showed no improvement, & developed a heart problem because of this so-called care, (which I am currently seeing a heart specialist about) he dismissed me in worse condition than when I came in. And to top that catastrophe, this evil & malicious person put me back on the very Rx, that I was originally on & the same dosage. GO FIGURE. I can't COMPREND how this man can POSSIBLY be allowed to be in the position he is......

My experience with this hospital has been great.. these people seem to love their jobs.. so very friendly helpful people. EVERYONE that I have been in the presence of have been great. I have been in the ER 3 times in 3 days (different issues) and have been in the hospital for a couple of days..I have been treated like they truly care about my health family and care. This hospital should be rated much higher.ill be back...well... if I need a hospital in Wichita, Kansas. 😊
