I have had three unsatisfactory experiences at the hospital, at different occasions, one when I was being treated there myself, and others from accompanying family members, who were treated there.
I can say that all of the emergency room staff and the treatment that they provide is on point, they are very professional, they provide excellent care, and interact well with the patients, but once you leave the ER, to go to the floor, the care level changes, to poor quality. It is not all the staff who work those unit, as with anything, there is always a few bad apples.
Some of the day shift, Labor and Delivery nurses were rude, displayed unprofessional conduct , and was not patient and family friendly, their conduct was hostile and demeaning, for unwarranted reasons. They were rude, thoughtless to what they say to the patient and their family, interactions and actions were unprofessional.
Most staff don't round on the patients enough to see what is going with them, they only come into the room, when called upon by the patient, to give medications, or obtain vital signs, never just to check on their status.
Some of the staff don't seem care, by the manner in which they display themselves to the patient. A main issue is, when patients voice complaints, it is taken likely by the nurse, and she carry on her duties as though the patient said nothing, those complaints that are addressed, are not done so immediately, the nurse waits until the patients symptoms are severe before attempting to contact the doctor for a treatment order. Doctors and patients depends on nurses to communicate to each other to determine patients, there is a deficiency in that area.
I feel that is not the objective of West Jeff., but that is how some of the staff represent themselves as a West Jeff employee. I have transfer my care to Ochsner, because of the service that I received there, and many of my families have done the same.
