I'm from Fairbanks and I was here on a work trip. One weekday night after dinner I started feeling very bad at the Hotel, I had intense RUQ stomach pain with referred flank pain for about 6 hours and vomited off and on the whole time. After a while i decided it wasn't food poisoning and decided to take a cab to BRH. There was literally no one in the waiting room and they had me back to a room within like 45 seconds of arriving. I was the only one in the ER that night which is strange because this is a major stop on the cruise ship tours so I'm sure they get plenty of tourists in. The Doc was very attentive as were the nurses. They had me medicated within minutes and back to the CT within 15 minutes. Turns out my chronic pancreatitis was flaring up so they kept me for observation and discharged me the next day with pain medication and a plan of care. I was all alone in Juneau and it was sort of nerve racking having this flare up while i was there so it was very nice to have these guys on my side during the struggle. Thanks BRH

I was very impressed by my two-night stay here -- the level of care I got was better than I've seen at any big-city hospital. The staff were nice and professional. Even the food was good!

When I went their they were rude. Then the ER nurse couldn't even identity a cyst and instead was immature enough to say it may get be herpes. Then they tried to say I needed to stay in town to see a dermatologist. Needless to say medicine hasn't figured out everything, but they are professional and do have an elitist culture. So take it easy and just get through your experience with them. The what if I have an STD complex is very highschoolish. Anyway I already know how to get rid of cysts and what they are.

They are very good about medical care,& there very courteous towards others, or patient's. They have a emergency room,& a souvenir shop,& a short stay area,& ALL KIND'S of things in it. Even a cafeteria. It's a very BIG,& spacious Hospital. Very friendly staff,& they're very eager to help you with whatever you need.

This is not a state of the art hospital. If you're taking certain meds they'll judge you and adjust your quality of care based on their perception rather than what you are telling them or what reality is. I was a high risk patient with ongoing health problems. They did not take me seriously and forced me to take something to calm me down after I told them I brought my own medicine. The nurse at one point referred to me as a junkie. I am repulsed by This place. It is whack, quacky, cooky and I do not trust them with my life. You people are not practicing medicine. To everyone else not working there, Avoid this place!
