Straight trash. Have zero concept on how things work. Podiatry tells me I can be seen at the emergency room if the pain is too much. My toe is swollen, red and discharging. Podiatrist on call can't do anything. Don't be on call then if you're not going to help people in pain. I wish I would've taken that fake nurses name down so I can blast him in this post but I'm done with these people. Doesn't even rate a star. Now I'll go self medicate. Thanks VA Hospital of East Orange.

My husband came in thru ER the care and friendly nurse we great made us feel confident in the care he received. He needed surgery and the Doctor and staff were very informative. I am very confident they will help him recover. I give them 5 plus stars. Thank you Marines wife Maria

If I could put no stars I would. This place is terrible, all of the positive reviews are put there by the faculty or patients who are "advised" to leave positive reviews inconspiculously for better costumer service for that individual. They hang up on your phone calls, treat your healthcare like a joke and ultimately treat the patient like garbage. I have left 4 messages, called multiple times over a week and a half to all of the appointment lines trying to schedule my sleep study for sleep apnea. Its a serious health condition where I stop breathing at night in my sleep and the sleep study is to keep me breathing at night and ALIVE. This isn't some joke East Orange VA Hospital, East Orange, NJ. Absolutely the worst VA health care I have received or seen. If this was a private health insurer they would be put out if practice for misconduct, malpractice and disgusting customer service. (Original review) >>> (Update - while some of the departments I would starred the same as above not having had better experiences, I have found improvements at the dental, mental health and human resources sections. I also had a very pleasant x-ray experience last time around. Hoping improvements keep coming as I still prefer East Orange facilities over Lyons. >>> A huge negative, however, is the parking. I like to self park, not valet every trip and wait so most of the time I find myself walking from the lowest lot to find a spot. Maybe a parking garage, at some point would create the space needed for growth. The phone system in general is basically an audio version of the parking lot.

No stars! This place is an absolute disgrace to all veterans who have risked their lives for this country. I have been trying to call and contact people here for two months and have gotten absolutely no response whatsoever, does anybody work here anymore or did they shut the hospital down? Maybe the VA trains its employees to just ignore any call that comes through. Fareedah Newman and Frances Camacho among many other people either let their phones ring off the hook or are never even at their desk. When you finally get to the hospital you are greeted with nothing but absolute disrespect and hostility. You may sit in a waiting room for 8 plus hours before anyone even talks to you. They need to fire everyone in this hospital and give these jobs to real patriots who care about something other than themselves. Clear the swamp!

Some of those females who work in scheduling should be retrained on SCHEDULING and CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILLS. Seriously speaking, you're calling a vet to notify her of an outsourced appt. YOU not paying attention or don't care...didn't notice that there's 2 previous appts on the same day...(time and travel no concern to the scheduler). The vet asks if the following appointed day was available, but, in return she receives disgusting Customer Service Skills followed up by a phone being slammed in her ear. You can change the look of the VA (nice). Although.. some of those employees working up there at the EAST ORANGE VA should be fired. The type of Customer service skills that is on display up there from the 1st to the 13th floor, only certain employees in certain departments should be fired. They don't appreciate the work environment and the Veteran. Biggest reason as to why I tend to shy away from seeking care from there. I need it.. but I don't want or need to be talked down to as if I've did something wrong to that person. If you don't like you're job. Please don't work for the government in a hospital setting. You should never be disgusting over the phone or in person with a patient. Customer Service should truly be the best in the country...All VAMC's but yet that is SERIOUSLY not the case. What is wrong up there?
