I went in with trouble breathing, lightheaded, yellow phlegm, and other symptoms after work became too dangerous to continue.I was left there for hours then had my blood drawn. Then they said I was a “little dry” and brushed it all off as dehydration. I’ve been hydrating the past few days prior to coming here and it’s gotten worse. I can’t sleep, catch my breath, or get up too quickly and it makes my job life threatening.
The second nurse put on my blood pressure cuff and walked off after which it popped off because it wasn’t on tight enough. Later I heard her telling the staff “he took it off.” I asked another nurse to put it on for me and she said they’ll do it later. I understand other patients with immediately life threatening issues come first but just grabbing the first result and running with it and not addressing the other symptoms or how to help them is just awful. The doctor mentioned my high heart rate and being concerned about it but it wasn’t brought up again. Comforting.
Any other doctors’ office would’ve probably swabbed my phlegm, taken my temperature, or recommended something besides “hydrate and ibuprofen” to maybe help me breathe. Meanwhile the diarrhea, trouble breathing, lightheadedness still continue and I can’t sleep. They didn’t even recommend over the counter medicine to help.
Brushing off a patient with “you’re a little dry” as the cause for all of this after explaining I’ve been hydrating is infuriating. I wasn’t a “little dry” before I stepped into that office and was left there and now I’m left wondering if I should go to another office to check for an infection. This is the first doctor visit I’ve had where I’m leaving with more concerns than I came in with.
Edit: went to urgent care literally hours after when they opened and was confirmed sick by listening to my lungs and looking at my throat. Also the urgent care bothered to take my temperature and didn’t order unnecessary blood tests. They gave me medicine and I’m starting to feel better. This hospital was negligent.
