Complete guide to MEDITECH training and certification. Learn about programs for clinicians, IT staff, and revenue cycle professionals.
MEDITECH Training Overview
MEDITECH runs training through two main channels: MEDITECH University (instructor-led classes at their headquarters or on-site) and the Customer Education Portal (self-paced online courses). Each program is organized by user role — clinicians, IT admins, and revenue cycle staff follow different tracks.
The most successful implementations we see follow a train-the-trainer model: a core group of super-users attends MEDITECH University, then teaches the rest of the staff internally. This approach cuts training costs and builds in-house expertise faster.

Training Best Practices
1. Start with super-users
Pick 2-3 people per department who are quick learners and patient teachers. They become your first line of support, not MEDITECH's help desk.
2. Use role-based training
A nurse does not need to learn charge capture, and a biller does not need to learn order entry. Scope each session to the actual daily workflow.
3. Practice in the training environment
Slide decks do not build muscle memory. Give every user at least 8-10 hours in a sandbox environment before go-live so they can make mistakes without consequences.
4. Plan for ongoing education
MEDITECH releases updates regularly, and staff turnover means new people always need onboarding. Budget for quarterly refresher sessions and keep your sandbox environment active year-round.
