feedback about Ashe Memorial Hospital
My family’s experience was superb, they went above and beyond.
My Mom received special care at Ashe Memorial. Nurses were very nice and very good at their job. Her doctor was outstanding getting to the root of her problem. Ashe Memorial has come along way and has improved greatly in my opinion. Room was very nice and clean. Couldn't have asked for a better place to take my mom or any other member of my family.
So thankful that we have such a GREAT hospital in our little town. I have had the experience of being a patient myself and was so impressed with the nursing staff as well as the providers. My husband was also a patient last year. I cannot brag enough on the nurses especially, I felt as if I was the only patient being cared for and all of the rooms were full. The PA on duty was also very kind and knowledgeable. I could not have ask for better care! I just want to say a big THANK YOU to all of the staff for being so great; not only to me and my family, but all of the other patients as well.
Best hospital food I've ever had and I've been in a lot of hospitals. Nice staff and the Doctor was very nice. He made you feel at ease.
I"m giving Dr. Dale Hamrick this rating. I went to see him last week of April as follow-up for pneumonia treated at Ashe Memorial ER. He told my husband and me he planned to retire March, 2018. I should have gotten up and left, but I needed specific blood panels for my pain mgmt doctor in Hickory. My symptoms were extreme pain and heat coming from all my joints. He didn't address my symptoms but told me I needed a Rheumatologist. I told him I knew that and did he know of anyone. He did not. (Little did I know he'd only be here since 2015.) He said he'd order the panels and I made another appt on May 1, 2017. I went to the hospital's lab for the blood work. When I saw Dr. Hamrick on May 1st, I asked for results of my lab. He told me the panels were not on the report. My husband explained we needed those results for my upcoming appt with pain mgmt. He appeared unconcerned. Then he looked at my prescriptions that needed refills and said I needed to see a Rheumatologist and pulmonary doctor because he did not prescribe the medicines I needed. But when he looked at the list again he said he would send refills to my insurance mail-in program. He tossed the list aside and wanted to go through my medical history. At this point my husband was irritated by Dr. Hamrick's feeble remarks and lack of professionalism regarding the blood panels ordered without results. Words were exchanged and we left the office with my co-pay and an authorization form to have my records sent elsewhere.
I strongly urge anybody 55+ years old to seek a PCP elsewhere. The staff at Mountain Family Care Center are great, but Dr. Hamrick is ready for retirement.
