I went to Baylor, Scott and White waxahachie for a knee procedure. I was very impressed with how efficient this hospital is ran. They have plenty of staff and volunteers to help you. I never had to wait long for anything or wonder what was happening. They're staff communicates with you about everything and cares if you understand. They are so polite and friendly. The hospital is clean and nice.

Room was beautiful with large windows. The room was big. I was comfortable and very well taken care of!! I would go there for medical care and recommend it to others. Rated: EXCELLENT!!

Never seen such unprofessional staff from standing around nurses station in groups chatting and making jokes or running around on cell phones. We did not even have a nurse check on my aunt for 3hrs. We were waiting results for 5 hrs that they said would only take an hr to an hr and half. Felt left in dark the whole time. And when asked how much longer Dr. Said well just let them know if you are ready to go. Hmm i am like you have not told us anything or any followup advice. Maybe if everyone was not playing around and talking on their cell phones maybe it would not take as long.

After going to so many hospitals in different states I found this hospital to be rated a five star Emergency Room. My son drove me from Lancaster to Waxahachie on a Saturday morning. Just moving from California to Texas and not knowing what to expect the staff was great. I was in a room while my son was checking me in. The nurses and doctor's started working on me within 1to2 minutes. All the staff was concerned. I would like to locate a primary doctor at this Medical Center since the service was so good. I even received a call the next day at home to see how I was feeling. WOW never had any one to check up on me after going to ER. GREAT SERVICE Well done.

Sorry Baylor I hadn't finished writing my review before you replied on my 3 stars... let me clarify.

When Baylor Waxahachie moved to 35 and 287, our family started going to this Hospital. And the last 3 times before this current visit we have had a great experience. However I'm not sure if it is growing pains since they have expanded rapidly or if we just got a bad doctor but this experience was very bad when it comes to her medical care. If this was a hotel we received excellent service and I might have given 5 stars.

My mother went not feeling well, turns out she had pneumonia. She gets an antibiotic, they run some tests.

However as a patient her right to know her care was violated. She was told her hemoglobin count had dropped significantly since she had arrived at the Hospital (which I believe to have been a side effect of the antibiotic and the fluids they were giving her). They ran blood tests every 3-4 hours, she was never informed of the results of those tests. Her goal for the day was to monitor her lab results.

She has had bariatric surgery and is diabetic, yet she was given the ADA 1800 calorie diet. I would have a nutritionist review the effectiveness of that plan giving a diabetic 60 carbs a meal seems a little excessive IMHO. They did not offer a bariatric diet plan.

Her blood sugar levels weren't checked for hours after her arrival, when they were they were naturally very high (294) They gave her only 3 units of insulin. (Didn't ask about her sliding scale, they had their own sliding scale) The doctor didn't give my mom her metformin the last evening we were there because the doctor thought that she might want to do a contrast test (without informing her, she had to ask why she didn't get her medicine.)

She had pneumonia and never received a breathing treatment. The doctor asked how her breathing treatments were going. Even after being informed that she hadn't received any she was sent home, she developed a fever shortly after coming back home.

The staff is as friendly as can be however I think they focus more on being like a hotel than a Hospital. I give it 3 stars only because of the excellent treatment received in the past. However reading some of the reviews from the past few weeks my experience was not unique. I am disappointed that this Hospital has declined in quality. I like the Baylor Healthcare system and would hope that processes will be reevaluated and better procedures put into place.

I feel it part of my responsibility as a member of the community to provide honest feedback not only in the hopes that this Hospital take more seriously the responsibility they have to provide quality care and respect the patients rights to know what is going on with their healthcare but also to inform others of my experience and opinions so that they can make an informed decision on where they choose to send their loved ones.
