I took my mom to the e.r. for a UTI. The nurse assigned to her (can't remember her name) was pleasant and helpful. The rest of the nursing staff were abrupt to the point of rudeness. One, when I started to ask if I could get my mom some cold water, held up her hand and rapped out, "Find your nurse. I can't do anything for you." I didn't ask her to get the water. I didn't have a chance to specify that I'd purchase a bottle of water from the vending machine. She didn't give me an opportunity. There was much friendly chatter at the nurses' station but when I approached to ask if my mom's test results had come back, the entire mood changed to one of impatience, almost hostility. By their tight lipped, monosyllabic responses, it was abundantly clear that they did not want to be bothered. (I went to the nurses' station only twice in the three hours I was there.) I appreciate the hard work nurses do. Several of my relatives are nurses. And stress is part of the job. But being overtly unfriendly and/or hostile to patients and their families is unprofessional. The atmosphere in the e.r. that evening felt like a powder keg. Mom was very aware of the mood (her room was very close to the nurses' station in the e.r.) and she felt that she couldn't ask for assistance or mention her nausea. If my mom had been in better shape for it, I would have taken her to UHC or CAMC for treatment. I would not recommend Braxton County Memorial Hospital unless one had absolutely no other recourse.

I took my sister-in-law and while she was getting testes done I went outside and smoked me a CIG and when I came back in the nurse pretty much yelled at me because I spend 3 damn trying to get back to her and they wouldnt anwser the alarm so yes I pressed it three more time and them what I need and she got angry with me but some of the nurse was cool and nices. Then there was another nurse while her iv was going off she came and unpluged it and took her blood pressure and then took her hand and move her where she wanted her too instead of using her word and letting her do it. There was some rude one there but there was some great amazing people there.

For real the worst place ever. The lady at the front who was taking information was the rudest I believe I've ever seen. Nobody was friendly at all. Definitely my last visit there.

I had to go to this hospital on several occasions as it is our local hospital. My niece especially has had some very serious injuries due to seizures. The staff was very polite and caring and the doctor did a very good job of stitching her wounds. She loves hugs and high fives. The staff treated her very well even after the tenth high five and hug. This was in the emergency department. It pretty much depends on the staff and situation what kind of experience you will have there. I have had to be a patient before and one time it was a good experience, the next was terrible because the nurse I had was quite rude and seemed preoccupied with talking to coworkers. I will say the outpatient services are very good. If you need labs, x-ray or other inpatient procedure, they can be quite quick and the ladies there that check you in are very helpful and polite.
