One of Charlotte's finest medical facilities. Being in the ER there a time or two myself! Treatment for me was as good as it gets! GREAT! And for severe trauma they offer "LIFE FLIGHT" or Air lift. And maybe in my case most significant Atrium Health "Stroke Unit" saved my 78 year old father's life. What? So grateful. Thanks for all who dedicate their lives saving others!!!

I recently was admitted for a possible heart issue. The ED was so busy it was like something out of a movie. I totally understand the wait there, they do a good job with triage, doing tests ahead of time and getting things done. My huge issue is with admitting and what they are doing with rooms. I was admitted and told they had a room for me in observation, upon arrival to this room I realized that I was being admitted into a closet, seriously a little bigger then a closet, no bathroom and when the door is closed dark as a closet. Also, no bed, I had a stretcher, a chair and a TV. I am a 4 time back surgery patient who deals with chronic pain and nerve issue and I was given this room to sleep in, now I also am unable to walk with out assistance now so I have a walker, so I was told I could either use the bedside commode or go down the hall to go to the bathroom, of which I chose the latter. The nurses were WONDERFUL, I cannot say enough about the care I was give and concern for my back issues, Dr. G is great, but he was very busy so it was hard to communicate with him. I have been hospitalized here twice in the last month and see a lot of cost cutting measures going on here. I wish someone could have told me before I was admitted that the situation with beds was bad and I could have a choice to stay or come back in the morning, this entire night was extremely painful, stressful and overwhelming to someone who is struggling to figure out her health situation. Quit trying to make more money! Quit over stressing your staff! It’s about the patients, and quality of care, you will not make more money cutting corners. When I receive my bill if I am charged for overnight in a room, I will raise hell! This is a horrible situation that I hope no one else has to go through!

Find another ER to go to if you value your time and health. Waiting on CT scan results from almost 6 hours ago. Have been here for a total of almost 9 hours. I’ve asked multiple times if I can leave and get the results tomorrow so it’s at least not a total waste of time. No one can give me an answer and they also cannot find the answer for me. I’m met with rude, short responses that show me I’m not valued as a patient. Also there’s trash all through this place and in the 9 hours I’ve been here, no one has come to clean it up. The same messes are in the bathroom that were there 9 hours ago. Tissues, vomit bags, used face masks are all over the waiting room. Horrible experience.

Just came through for a hysterectomy. Everyone from the front door, registration, to the surgery prep, all nurses, doctors, anesthesiologists, the surgical staff, again all nurses.... FANTASTIC!!! I was taken very well care of. They cater to you and patient care and comfort is top priority! We had all 3 of our children here and it was just as fabulous then. We've been in and out of here for 8 years now! Dr. Garcia was amazing. We love Sonja at registration. And nurses in Maternity who took care of me after surgery...Darleen, Laurie, Dawn, and Charlotte....I think those names are correct. You made my stay just right!

1 star is too kind for the patient care this hospital gives. It is a shame that a few nurses can ruin a hospital's reputation. My mother had knee surgery at this hospital on Thursday and she did not tell me until Tuesday that she had not had a bath since her surgery. She, also, told me that when she would call for help to go to the restroom, it would take them 10-15 minutes before anyone came in. Well, by that time, she has urine running down her leg. They did not bother to clean her leg up nor did they change her wet socks. To say that I was upset is putting it mildly! It has been my understanding that patients should be bathed daily. When I found out, I immediately called the hospital and asked to speak to someone over patient care. I was told that I needed to speak to the charge nurse on the floor first. If my problems were not solved after speaking to her, I should call back and request code care. I was transferred to the floor she was on and I spoke to someone about the issue. Their response was....they didn't know about that and it would be taken care of......do they not chart things they do with the patients??? I gave them the benefit of the doubt and THOUGHT it would be taken care of. When I spoke with my mother the next day, I asked her if someone came in the night before and gave her a bath. Guess what...they did not give her bath and they put a pull-up on her!!!! I was furious! My father and aunt were up there later that afternoon visiting and my aunt had to go out to the nurses station and ask them to get her some water and was it not customary to give patients a bath daily. They finally sent someone in, a male nurse (I don't have a problem with a male nurse, but I thought it would have been more appropriate to send in a female nurse to bathe her). The more I thought about it, the madder I became....I had called the night before and was told it would be taken care of (which it was not) and my aunt had to ask them to bathe her....I WAS DONE!!! I called back up to the hospital and told them that I needed to talk to someone over patient care. I gave them my mother's name and room number. They assured me that someone would go up and talk with her about the problems.
Finally, something was going to be done. They did send someone up there to talk with her and she told them everything that had gone on...went there on Thursday and it was not until Wednesday she was given a bath, was not asked if she needed to brush her teeth (my father helped her on Sunday and my aunt helped her on Wednesday), socks not changed after having urine run down her legs from their lack of response time.
This is one hospital that needs an overhaul on patient care. Now granted, not all of the nurses are bad. If that was their mama laying in that bed, they would not want her treated like that. All we wanted was for her to be taken care of and to get what she needed to get well and come home.
My mother did tell me that that first night I called (Tuesday), 2 young nurses helped her to the restroom and were standing outside the bathroom door.. She overheard them saying "her daughter called up her tonight" and started laughing about it. In my opinion, that is not very professional.
Patient care and professionalism needs work at that hospital!!
