Waited 2 and a half hours for a room, another hour to see anyone. If there isn’t enough staff to operate the ER, shut it down.

I have head gossip from the staff as well when in the ER. It is unfortunate but every clinic has to deal with "the human factor". Make sure to document everything like you were running a business! Take names, dates, location, and very good notes or record conversations with a smartphone.

Many addicts cry wolf and try to use the ER as their personal narcotic pharmacy. If someone leaves a smear review with nothing to back it up, chances are they either did not get their pills or they may suffer from society leach syndrome! 😀

Took my Mom (she's 76) in to the E/R for throat pain on 11/19/2018.
Spent 5 hours there. Was never seen by a doctor. Had blood pressure and vitals checked. That's it. After 5 hours she decided the best thing to do was just leave.
Did I mention she was a nurse at CVPH all her life.
Just seems wrong. She pays a lot of money for health insurance. What did it get her.
It will probably be a $500 bill and for what?
Never seen by a doctor...
Jack up everybody's insurance rates.

I went there in January 2018 with heel fissures so bad they were bloody.
Got a note for 3 days off from work and was told to put vaseline on my heels.
No insurance. $500 bill.
After 3 days I was in no shape to return to work.
Got a 2nd opinion at another care facility in Plattsburgh and a note for A MONTH out of work so I could keep my job.
Cost was under $100.
After one month of vaseline I was good to return to work.

If you have something wrong, Google it first.
You'll receive the same benefits and save $500 or more.

Go to the E/R only if you are in a life or death situation.
Even then I probably wouldn't go there unless it was out of my control.

I assume everyone there does the best they can.
Serious room for improvement.

I had to make a stop here on my way from NC to Canada due to internal bleeding. I was afraid due to the reviews on the web but it was my only choice at 10PM on a Sunday. However, it was a positive experience from beginning to end. The staff at the front desk, the ER nurses, the doctor and CT scan staff - everyone was so kind, compassionate, efficient, professional, and knowledgeable. I had no wait at all and was whisked right in, hooked up to an IV and examined. It seems to me that if they suspect something serious, they are all over it.

I hate having to go to this place... We visit every summer for a few weeks... I inevitably end up in the ER for one of my 4 kids. Unfortunately, Plattsburgh lives in the dark ages... and the traditional urgent care facilities refuse to treat infant & toddlers.... I mean come on, please... I'm an RN with a 13 month old who had an ear infection.... Had to wait for "fast track" for forever... There was only one other patient there... and the entire process took approx. 3 hours. The ER docs had about as much finesse as a lead balloon.... and my baby ended up throwing up in my lap because she was so upset from the gruff doctor attempting to look in her ears and down her throat.

From now on... I'm headed to Burlington to avoid this nightmare. It would be nice if the city could get with the times and actually have practitioners at the local Urgent Care capable of treating children for simple illnesses so we could avoid dealing with a hospital emergency room. Ridiculous...
