feedback about Chi St. Vincent Hospital Hot Springs
My husband I were in Hot Springs for a work conference and he got sick. He ended up getting admitted into the hospital. I could not have asked for a better experience. The staff were very friendly and made us feel comfortable. The doctors were nice and very informative. The nurses and doctors were very through. When they were in the room they were not rushing to leave. they took all the time that we needed with them. The hospital itself is very clean. I hope to never have to come here again, but if I have to I would not hesitate.
Terrible experience with this facility for a family member. Get a second opinion before having surgery here. Even if confident with you surgeon, know that after surgery care from ICU to recovery is horribly short staffed, nurses complaining, patients yelling across the floor for assistance, it's very scary. You have to have an advocate, as the staffing is so limited it is difficult to understand what the plan for recovery is as they are always in a state of confusion. We had a doctor suggest very aggressive surgery that wasn't needed, bed sores developed, pneumonia developed, feeding issues and delays..thank goodness I ended up getting my family member transferred out of there to another facility..night and day difference. There were a few stand out nurses, but unfortunately they are so overwhelmed. If having surgery ask what braces and medical devices will be needed and by online. Do not let them put anything from Dura Medic on you. This company is a scam, and it will not be covered by your insurance. They charge outrageous prices, then send to collection agency immediately who want to work with you to "understand your hardship..and work together to find a solution".. so you have to call the credit agency to negotiate better pricing. I can't help by think my family member would have been much better off having his surgery at a different facility.
I went for an acute asthma attack and waited for almost 3 hours in the waiting room. People with chest pain and people who CAN'T BREATHE are supposed to be seen first!!! Moved here in December from Florida and I am so disappointed in both hospitals here. The nurses would rather sit behind the desk and talk to each other all day rather than treat patients and God forbid you ask these rude nurses any questions! Then I feel like they make you wait longer on purpose! I'm thinking of moving back to Florida after this experience because I had awesome health care there.
I had to go see chi convenient care this morning because my bladder tumor, poor liver function is worsening. The medical team at chi convenient care did blood work and my ammonia levels were through the roof. My GGT is also high. The labs were taken by chi convenient care then walked over to the main hospital to be processed and it was the lab team at chi main hospital who found these bad results. I went to the ER this evening at CHI and two nurses were beyond rude and the doctor was concerned until I finally said no more IV tries because I’m extremely dehydrated and I figured 8 sticks and misses were enough. These two nurses also tried to tell me that I WAS going to get the IV in my neck even though I asked them to do a vein Doppler or ultrasound because my good veins were so deep. They left my urine samples just sitting in my room for over an hour knowing the samples were getting cold and becoming useless. These two nurses were named Andrea and Alexia. They both knew because of my bladder tumor I couldn’t give another sample and Andrea got rude, loud, and talked down too my wife when she tried to bring my sample to them thinking they might have just forgot and Andrea also told me that I just had no choice but to let them stick me over and over. Alexia who tried starting my IV once stuck the IV catheter into a nerve and made my arm twitch uncontrollably, Alexia got mad an rude while saying “STOP MOVING!” I said I’m not moving you hit the nerve and it’s twitching. The doctor who I will have to find the name, said the labs this morning were wrong an my liver functions were perfect, I guess she didn’t realize the labs this morning were processed by the same lab at chi as the bloodwork taken tonight. Luckily I have the printed out copy of my labs from this morning from CHI. How do we know it wasn’t the other way around an wrong tonight? This doctor then tried to tell my wife an me to stay in the room, we HAD to sign AMA papers an told Alexia that if I said another bad word, I only said one but stage three bladder tumor tends to make one unhappy towards medical staff who try everything to harm an not help, this doctor told Alexia “call the cops on him if he says another bad word!” Really?! I mean what happened to “do no harm?” We did not sign the AMA papers and if the tumor has metastasized into my liver or anywhere I’m not going to say they advised me to not leave when in reality they threatened me an my wife with police, said I was “fine” , and on our way out of the ER they tried to keep us locked inside. Something has got to give and change before CHI St Vincent hospital in Hot Springs hurts someone. I will do whatever I have too and call whoever I have to in order to make sure these instances stop or become a very very rare occurrence. I have six kids and a life full of hopes and dreams but I guess I don’t deserve to live it by how CHI Hot Springs has treated me from June 4, 2019 to present. Please, anyone who reads this be cautious about who and where they go in Hot Springs for medical care.
Come tto the ER in extreme pain from kidney stones. To point of thinking about sucide. They let me set in the waiting room for 5 hours in this pain. While letting others that were obviously in better shape go back first. This is inhuman! And the attitude of not caring really made it worse!
