Communication is a big problem for hospital staff. There is no direct communication. The communication is through the nurse or someone else who almost always has limited information. One must wait hours to receive a response over the phone and sometimes not even that. For days I've been waiting for an answer to a simple question. It is incredible that after more than three days I still do not know if the specialist in charge of making the consultation with insurance, did or not the consultation.
Writing this in response to the bad things I’m seeing about the ER. So many complaints about the wait time. Blows my mind. I moved here from a city where you wait 10+ hours to be seen in the ED (unless you are actually dying). And here people are complaining about a 1 hour wait!?!?! You should be ecstatic! There are only so many rooms and staff there. They can’t see 30 kids at once!
Friendly staff, nice facilities, definitely tried to be a calming place for children (and parents).
I am a cancer survivor and I was only 9 when I had been diagnosed with Hodgkins. I was young but I must say, I enjoyed the hospital very much. At first I was terrified to be there, but then it was to the point where I forgot I was there for treatments. It was amazing! They treated me so well! Amazing respect and trust from the staff! They were very kind and nice. I didn't want to leave when my treatments were done. I miss my set of nurses and my doctors. I see them once a year for check ups, but I'm always excited to go back. It's definitely an amazing hospital to go to.
I am 13 years old, I had EXTREME Stomach pain, not knowing I had Eosinophilic Esophagitis. At first they didnt think an admission was required... I came in as Emergency BC I had extreme dehydration from not eating for 3 days. Even though it seems like they don't try, they really did and even though it took work most people don't see that they are dealing with this on a daily. And are just doing theyre job. They gave me a GI Scope to the stomach and the test results came back positive for Esophagitis. They took very good care of me and I'm so glad they helped me through this. I hope this clears up confusion as this is coming from an actual patient on how they cared for me. Thanks Children's.
