“Doctor is really behind tonight” we’ve been here 4 hours and the doctor has been holding up the door frame for 20 minutes... chatting it up with the nursing staff.
SHOULD HAVE GONE TO SPRINGFIELD.
Zero sense of urgency and very little regard for patients care.
Their ER is one of the biggest jokes! Having a disabled child already a concern, an ER is somewhere that you are SUPPOSE to go and be able to trust your care team. That is not EVEN CLOSE to what you get at CMH. In September my daughter was in ER, sedated, REQUIRED OXYGEN and was misdiagnosed with pneumonia. When I went back for something unrelated a couple weeks later, the charge nurse recognized me and asked how she was doing on medications....would’ve been great and super thoughtful HAD ANY MEDICATION/PHONE CALL BEEN MADE! Oh, I forgot to mention that they FAILED TO DOCUMENT THAT SHE REQUIRED OXYGEN! I reached out to the director or the ER, her name is Jamie, who filed a grievance “on my behalf,” and that she would look into what happened, and follow up with the patient advocate (Kim), and have her call me. I received something in the mail stating “we would have a decision soon;” that was a couple months ago. I called Jamie two weeks ago, no answer, left a voicemail, I have yet to hear back from her, I also haven’t heard a single thing from Kim. Fast forward to tonight, I get a call from a close family/friend that I need to come up there and help her with something. When I got there, she was being told that they “couldn’t get any of her medications but two and she needed to see if someone could go to her house (45 minutes one way) and pick them up and bring them back.” Her child, who is also disabled, is being flown to St. Louis Children’s Hospital tonight, and has been without her daily medications for hours now. The nurse, Josh, asked if there was anything else we could do to get her medication, I stepped out to get some water and call the pharmacy to see if there was anyway we could get them. After I made that phone call, I was made to leave for “causing problems,” for getting medication that Josh and Rhonda (charge nurse), reportedly had absolutely no way of getting.
I have never had any issues with Rhonda before tonight. I have had my fair share of issues with Josh, so much that in September, Jamie pulled him off of my daughters case as soon as he walked in the room. That didn’t stop him from trying to give her IV meds, which he walked into the room, didn’t say a single thing to me or her, grabbed the IV tubing, and tried to inject. I stopped him and asked what he was administering and was told, “what else would it be?” Also, his comment tonight that “I’m really sorry, I have no idea what I’m doing,” didn’t go over well, and when asked why he was there if he didn’t know anything he replied “they pay me to show up and be halfway attractive.” That behavior is completely unprofessional, and staff like that is half the reason this hospital is seen as a complete joke.
CMH or as I call it CAN'T MEDICALLY HELP..
So I went to Bolivar cmh ER yesterday for chest pains and heart rhythm issues from a past chest impact injury. What I witnessed there was nothing short of a sad joke. I saw a couple who had waited 5 hours to get their baby in to figure out why she was having trouble breathing. I was pawned off on a nurses practioner who they wrote in on my preliminary radiology report as the REFERRING PHYSICIAN, and I was given a bad diagnosis for a side issue and was not treated or diagnosed for my heart issues at all. No order for an echocardiogram and when I took up my complaint with the cmh patient advocate, more like hospital P.R. parrot, she lied and was condescending.
So if you need a true diagnosis in the ER for a serious issue demand a Real doctor and id advise not going here at all. I've read the Google reviews and I'm not the first.
I have videos of my experience with the cmh "patient advocate" Kim Heckelson. What you don't see is what happened in her office before hand. She raised her voice and tried to roll herself in her chair into my face within a foot to intimidate me. I had to put my hand up and tell her to back off. This is not who should be advocating for patients and protecting them.
Btw I went back to my doctor , not a cmh doctor, and he reviewed my ct scan, and he did find the suspected asbestos scarring and spots in my lungs quite easily. So don't rely on cmh for true diagnosis. They will lie.
For far too long, we have let our institutions take advantage of us and treat us like lowly plebs...our medical industry, utility companies, our schools, we need to demand ethical audits of these establishments immediately and hold them accountable.
Video tape them, and show who they really are. I have video of my interaction from the first phone call and the face to face interaction with Kim Heckelson, the patient "advocate".
And Kim, don't reply to this review with please call the patient advocate office. I've seen enough of you.
I love this hospital. I will never go to Springfield again.
I have never been disappointed in the care we’ve received at CMH. It’s always been wonderful... friendly, timely, accurate, caring and beneficial. We have the upmost confidence in the doctors, nurses, radiologists, physical therapists and staff. Bolivar is definitely blessed to have such a great hospital!
