I'm originally from NC and was recently visiting VA with my boyfriend. I was pregnant with twins and was at 38 weeks when I came in to deliver. I was 8 centimeters dilated so as women know I was 30 minutes away from pushing. I was given a lengthy sign in down stairs at the front desk and then I was sent directly to the delivery room. The room they put me in to deliver my two precious baby boys was ABSOLUTELY FILTHY! There was BLOOD on the overhead lamp lights they pulled from the ceiling from the women that gave birth there before me and the walls and floors were grungy and dirty. It was very plain and obvious. The doctor that delivered my sons was EXTREMELY rude to me and one nurse in particular was telling me to keep my voice down bc I would scare the other women and that I shouldn't scream or be loud in any way. I WAS DELIVERING TWO TWIN BOYS WITH NO EPIDURAL OR PAIN MEDICATIONS..... IT WAS EXCRUSIATING PAIN! Well my case was very severe and I had some personal issues going on which I wont get into but I ended up being in this hospital for 4 days and then released, my babies were not bc of their low weight. I was told that if I was breastfeeding then I could have a room to continue to be with my boys, feed them and considering I'm 500 miles away from home. Well being alone for 4 days and having nothing with me I left for a few short hours after discharged to shower and purchase some baby items that were much needed for their release from the hospital. I was kicked out after I returned bc I brought my close friend back to the room to stay the night with me. I was told a little after midnight I couldn't have anyone stay with me (We had been there for a few hours at this point). The head nurse said that this was already explained to me NO VISITORS SPEND THE NIGHT, I told her it was most certainly was not. She said there was a form in my chart that I signed explaining the no visitors staying the night. She went to get this form and came back with a blank one saying that no I in fact didn't have it signed and it wasn't gone over with me. She tried getting me to sign it right then and there and I said no bc it made me look like a blatantly disregarded the rules which was not the case so they could have let her stay since it was so late, I'm 500 miles away from home and she had traveled a great deal to accompany me, I had been there the whole time alone and most importantly it wasn't explained to me or gone over. Under my special circumstances they could have made an exception since they failed to inform me and my friend. They could have done a 1000 times better with my situation and they didn't. All in all it was a horrible and horrifying experience for me and I would never go back. I wouldn't recommend this hospital to anyone for any reason but especially to pregnant mothers. Oh and one last detail. My first son Mason was in a incubator for two weeks and they didn't rotate him or pick him up hardly ever and so he developed the worst flat spot on the back of his head I've ever seen. So bad in fact that his pediatrician is putting him in a helmet to straighten it out. Which will be very uncomfortable for him and it would be completely and entirely unnecessary if the nurses and doctors would have held him more and rotated him on his sides and back like they should have. He had no IVs so they have no excuses except for laziness and incompetence!!!!! I gave them 1 star and if there was a option for no stars that would be my choice. Please beware of these people and this place. You and your children's well being, health and even life are on the line. Yes there were a select few nurses that were kind, helpful, understanding and compassionate but that was like finding a needle in a hay stack. Most of them were judgmental, harsh, rude, disrespectful, no regard to your feelings, demands or choices you made for your child. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE! It sucks bc this is the memory I'm stuck with for the rest of my life, giving birth to my twin baby boys. Karra Jenrette

I have went on this site to read what all has been said about the hospital an as far as I can say is they were excellent with my daughter with both her children being delivered here they were caring an kind always checking on her taking good care of her
My mom has had to have blood transfusions they have been excellent
One of my grandbabies broke his wrist an had to be in the E R for awhile an I got upset because I wanted things done right then an he had to b stuck twice for an IV I wasn't happy an spoke up once they got everything going he was put into surgery an had to stay in the hospital overnight all the good out weighted the bad
Then my other daughter had to come an was to the point she was going to pass out she has lived off of ice cream , cereal an oatmeal an tomato soup for 9 months but they have done test never turned her away because of no insurance an has really been kind
I've had tests xrays blood work an many things done here I may have been happy at first but as I said after the worry settles an can think more clear the good out weighted all that I got upset about
The hospital can only do so much so can the Drs an the nurses they need Prayers
and encouragement every hospital an Dr office is different some will be pleased with the visit others may have a lesser experience
It could come down one down where it would be closed like everything else in our home town Lord help I would love for everyone to have a good experience no matter where there go or for what reason serious or not I for one would like u to know I'll b Praying for u if that's ok God Bless u all an your Love ones
