Our experience was horrible from the beginning. My wife wad totally left out of being with me prior to my surgery. I asked 3 different nurses to bring her back but not one could take the time. Needless to say she was quite worried, stressed and angry. She has always been beside before even the most minor of surgeries. And the care I received after I was taken to my room was inefficient, somewhat uncaring and in some cases neglectful. It would seem your hospital staff is either short on help or greatly overworked. We have always used Community Hospitals for our health issues. This was our first experience with South. Hopefully, our last. We both feel that patient/family care and compassion is lacking.

While in the ER, I had been told by a doctor Jack E. Bonham, in a very rude way that I was, “Such an inconvenience”, after simply asking for a blanket because I was cold. The other staff was at least very nice to me and made me feel more comfortable than the doctor I was seen by. In the situation I was in, this instantly made me more upset, and very angry. I will be talking with a supervisor in the morning about my experience because I felt that was disrespectful, wether he was trying to make a joke, lighten the mood, or whatever it be. That was not the right place, time, or person to be saying that to. I don’t feel there is ever a good time to say that to someone, especially a patient who was clearly upset and in distress. Isn’t the main goal to take care of every patient and make them feel comfortable and safe in your care?

My daughter has just given birth to her daughter there. Before delivery, she was given some type of psychological evaluation, while in labor (she had a difficult labor and emergency c-section.) After delivery, while recovering, she was given another evaluation, and apparently the doctor issuing the evaluation told her he didn't feel she would be capable of taking care of her child. My daughter is not depressed, nor shows any signs of postpartum depression; she does have high anxiety levels. Now, because this doctor feels this way, she has to see a psychologist before being discharged! There is NOTHING wrong with my daughter's mental state! And why would she be the only one to receive an evaluation, and not the child's father as well? This only adds to my daughter's anxiety, that she also has to worry about why this doctor feels she is an unfit mother, after not even 48 hours after giving birth!

I just underwent a painful and unnecessary procedure because there was a typo on an ultrasound report read by one of the physicians. Extremely unprofessional. I will NEVER go there again for anything. Errors like this put people's lives in jeopardy.
