I checked in Friday night with chest pains. I have never received the service and care from any medical center in my 60 years. From administration to the emergency room to the 4 th floor nurses I am more than pleased with staff. I had several test run in the stress lab as well as nuclear test by the on duty cardiologist. I just
Couldn’t believe how everyone seemed to take so much pride in their job even though they were working on a weekend. I have visited numerous hospitals over the years including Mayo Clinic to Houston Clinic and Duke. None come close to the care given the patient that these guys at Dekalb do . Amazed at my experience at this tragic time in my life and how lucky I was to have found the quality of help at Hillendale.

The only reason I'm giving this hospital 1 star is because a good nurse; Bernadette and a womderful Dr. LUIS CAYAMCELA , MD in the ER, a wonderful nurse; Lois, and a wonderful Keesha. But this nurse that's on rounds now is horrible, have a whatever attitude and have very bad broken English.... I'm so done with this hospital....

I would Not recommend going to this hospital for an emergency i came here with extreme stomach pains of which i thought was a hernia, i waited to for hours to be seen. once the doctor could see me i was waiting over a hour for him to come in the room to give me a exam. i was mis-diagnosed and proscribed medication that wasn't needed for my issue.

Let me start by saying that the energy and vibes the staff gives off, is beyond evil. It’s absoultely disgusting to say the least. I can’t even start to think how these people got into healthcare and managed to have a job for so long. But wait, I do know... if you have a nasty attitude, love to hate your job, greet patients with nasty degrading looks instead of smiles and a simple hello... oh and let’s not forget to violate all types of HIPPA guidelines ... please apply to Dekalb Medical at Hillandale.. which is now “Emory at Hillandale” because this is the hospital for you! You have a few gems throughout the facility but the staff overall is quite sickening. The fifth floor staff is truly something out of the twilight zone. And it sucks for the few nurses and techs that are pleasant and take pride in their career and actually know how to do their job “FULL CIRCLE”. The fakeness reminds me High school age children being catty. They are incompetent and if you believe in a higher power .. please pray because you may not make it out alive! They don’t call it “KILLANDALE” for nothing! You will be given meds and won’t be told the dosage or the reason they are adminstering it... unless you ask. Kind of a “Don’t ask, don’t tell policy” each shift never has a fully competent or empathetic staff. It’s like they pair up two bananas with a barrel of bad apples for each shift. And it’s never the same people. It’s either a great charge nurse and one decent tech a unit full of catty nurses and lazy techs. Or this mix up.. a catty charge nurse, mean front desk, immature nurses talking about patients and their visitors, lazy techs and an awesome nurse that reassures you everything is going to be okay and apologizing for the staff and all their issues.. from previous shifts and shifts to come. I was near death and very sick when I came in ... I had a decent ED team and was very surprised at how warm everyone was, because usually it’s one big party in the ED and you would think, they forgot they were in a healthcare environment instead of a comedy show. But once I was admitted and moved to the fifth floor I was absoultey floored at the staff as a whole. Unprofessional, no empathy or even sympathy, a sense of entitlement, and you are to basically not make eye contact with any of the staff, don’t ask any questions, don’t question any part of your treatment, just take the damn meds we are giving you, if you do have the audacity to ask about anything.. you are lied to, talked down to like a child, your ability as a free thinking adult is shot down quickly with indirect mentions of why you are in the hospital in the first place, so you basically have no right to ask anything. Because if you were so smart you wouldn’t be sick in the hospital. Smart people get sick everyday, but at KILLANDALE they like the patients dumb and simple so they can treat you any kind of way, sit back and have a party at work, and not have you complain about their lack of respect and decency as healthcare professionals. This place is not a hospital, but more like a cold jail full of lazy guards. I’ll end on this note ... when my 12 yr old son makes the statement that “she’s just in it for the check” out of no where. It really puts this place as a whole into perspective. And if they do smile in your face as soon as they turn the corner they are planning your demise. AVOID THIS HELL HOLE AT ALL COST. Sincerely and with love .. a former employee, now patient and fully understanding why I left for a better job at a much better healthcare center where the staff is wonderful and nothing but uber professional and takes pride in the care of their patients. The only reason I didn’t go their to get treated is because it’s 45 min away from my home unfortunately, but from now on ... I will make that drive

I got my wisdom teeth removed in Cartersville and without informing me, the oral surgeon apparently sent something off for testing. A month or so later I got two bills, one from Dekalb Medical and one from Stephanie Wetzel, one of their doctors, I assume. I paid one of the bills and then moved, got married, and went out of the country. My mailing address stayed the same, but I never got another bill and just forgot about it, until last month. I couldn't login to Patient Portal to pay it because I didn't have the bill or any account number or anything. I called a number on their website, who told me to call another number, who told me to call the Physicians Group, who had never even heard of Stephanie Wetzel and didn't have my name in their system. None of the places I talked to did. Well then I start getting collection calls. They sent it to collections after only sending me one bill. I refuse to pay the collections company after reading their reviews. If I could, I would pay the bill directly, but no one seems to have any record of it. I also never got any of the results of whatever tests they did. For all I know nothing was done and they're just billing me for nothing at all.
