feedback about Doctors Hospital of Sarasota
The best hospital in Sarasota!! Everyone from the volunteers that greet you at the door, to the nurses and doctors that you put your trust in are second to none.
Very pleased with the service & competence of staff at Doctors Hospital at my recent surgery there in September. Clean & efficient. Nurses were very caring.
This is an excellent hospital. The ER took me quickly and throughout my two day stay every Dr. And Nurse treated me with kindness and compassion.. They are very knowledgeable. The facility itself is beautiful and clean. The interventional radiology department was excellent. I was blessed of God to find this place. All rooms are private..an added bonus!

If I could give this place zero stars I would. 1 month ago I went in with chest pain, and a swollen throat. They sent me home without any testing and told me I had gastritis. Several weeks later I was back with severe pain, after getting an ultrasound they saw my gallbladder was severely inflamed. I was admitted for 3 days. The nurses were so rude, I was hardly checked on. Nobody would find a decent vein for an IV. I wasn’t allowed to have food or water, and when my IV came out they left me without one for over a day. Poor communication. The nurses were not informed on service dog laws and tried to tell me I needed paperwork for my service dog. They were very rude and gave me an anxiety attack about it. After 3 days the surgeon told me I was overweight and recommended gastric bypass, didn’t seem concerned about my gallbladder at all. They discharged me with no referrals or medication. Now 2 weeks later, I had severe pain again and went to Sarasota memorial. After having a CT and ultrasound, I was admitted and in surgery in less than 24 hours. The staff was absolutely fantastic. The surgeon said my gallbladder was twice the size of a normal one, with huge stones. He told me he couldn’t believe the other hospital had discharged me. My service dog was allowed to stay with me and nobody gave me trouble about it. Doctors hospital is negligent, and if I had listened to them my gallbladder would have ruptured! I’m so glad I didn’t trust them and went with my own gut instinct. I will be filing a complaint with the department of justice about my service animal and seeking advice from a lawyer about negligence.
How can people who work in healthcare be so kind yet so scatterbrained?! I was seen quickly but was diagnosed INCORRECTLY, and when asking questions they tried everything they could to get me to stop talking! Felt like pulling teeth the whole time! The nurses and rest of the staff were wonderful, though, and quickly caught the mistakes!
