feedback about Effingham Hospital
The staff at this hospital were absolutely wonderful! My daughter came in for heat exhaustion/dehydration and from the moment we walked through the door our service was top notch. Everyone from the front desk check in person, nurses, pa, doctor and billing specialist did a great job with explaining everything and being very thorough. Great small town hospital with excellent customer service and patient care.
If I could give this hospital ZERO stars I would. I'm so disgusted with the treatment or lack there of during our unfortunate visit today. My 60 year old mother and I arrived today at 12:09 i know this because i signed for a visitor pass.
We completed her intake about a hour and a half in. Then were sent back to the waiting room where we waited another hour and a half. My father asked what the hold up TWICE during that time was and was told five more minutes because a room was being cleaned. We finally left once we hit the THREE hour mark.
My mother was extremely lethargic and clearly ill. My mother also has AFIB, history of seizure and stroke, and high cholesterol. It is down right negligent this hospital's part. We saw patients who arrived after us being treated. My sister is a trauma nurse and I'm a social worker so we understand that pressing issues arrive in this setting, but this was downright inexcusable.
Not that it matters in this current health care climate, but my mother has private expensive insurance through my father's job.
So disappointed and sorry my mother had to suffer only to leave untreated and still unwell not to mention exposed to other illnesses during this time.
If someone wants to contact me from hospital administration I would be happy to talk to them. I in my heart felt as a social welfare advocate that I should share this experience in a public forum.
My husband and I brought our 4 month old who was suffering with a high fever. The staff went out of their way to help all of us feel comfortable and cared for. Everyone was warm, friendly and capable. We greatly appreciated their efforts and were thankful to be able to go home with a healthier baby.
My son has autism and is in the Spectrum Side he fell down the stair and hurt his foot it’s was swollen and bruise so I took him to Effingham hospital ER because it’s the closest one to me, worst Decision Ever a waste of time my son doesn’t express his pain like other kids he doesn’t cry or yell he’ll tell you it’s hurts or something not right. The second we got there no wheelchair available he had to walk on his swollen foot. Once in the room two nurses came in and ask him what number is his pain his like 9 it’s really hurts they didn’t even give him Tylenol for the pain the doctor came in just look at his foot and was like he need a X-Ray and ask him how is the pain he again say it 10 now it’s hurts still nothing was giving for pain a few minutes later after the X-Ray the doctor come back there nothing wrong with his foot he continues to say I can bring him in next Tuesday when a specialist the Orthopedic will be in the hospital if he continues to complain about pain, a few moments later the nurse come in with discharge paper saying that he has a sprain foot Keep it elevated and keep off it for a day or two til Swellest go down but then they make him walk from the room all the way back out to the lobby he even ask for a wheelchair cause it hurt to walk on and just ignored him Not once was he offered a wheelchair by the time I got to the front of the building a nurse ask if he will like to be wheel-chaired To the car I just look at her and told her what’s the point his been waking on it the whole time and now that we leaving you want to offer him one no thank you NEVER AGAIN I WILL BE TAKING MY KIDS HERE
I have used Effingham Hospital for 7 years and have had wonderful experiences. The registration process is the only area that needs to pick it up a little. I’ve had MRI’s, mammagrams, and ER. Expert care in all these departments.
