All I can say is, EVERYONE in the billing department is scum. I've never been left feeling so wrongly treated and like less of a human than I have when dealing with them.
I would rather die on the street than have ANYTHING to do with Evergreen Monroe again.
The billing department is a complete joke. I am 24, still live with my mom who lives off of a teacher's salary, and I'm currently unemployed. I applied for financial assistance towards my bill and they honestly looked me in the eye and said my $800 bill would get covered 25%. They truly believe that my mom, a severely underpaid teacher, should be responsible for MY bill and that she's over the poverty level!!! Absurd!!! They have the gall to pull out a little chart to point at what your household income is and therefor what you get granted. There's no way that a household of three living off ONE teacher's salary would only get "awarded" 25%. I'd certainly like that math explained to me.
But apparently, I got my financial aid application in two days after it was "due back", so they turned me into collections which has added another $250 in collection fees on top of my bill! On NONE of their documentation does it say a due date or that your account does not get put on hold while you're in the process of applying. I have NEVER experienced this with ANY other medical institution. In all my years in working with billing departments at different medical offices in obtaining financial aid, I have never heard of an account not being put on hold during the application process. And if that was the case, where is that stated? I smell a rat, and that rat's name is FRAUD.
I have never had such a horrible, nightmarish experience in applying for financial aid or dealing with people over the phone-- if and when you can even get ahold of someone.
I don't know how they can sleep at night. They're cruel, cruel people.
Shame on you, Evergreen Monroe billing department. Shame on you all.
