In early Dec. 2018 trying to get my Dr. to respond to a request I posted on the Fall River patient portal to meet a deadline for surgery I finally found out via phone calls that Fall River Health Services (FRHS) had changed the patient portal in Oct. 2018 to a completely different app.
Turns out the Dr. and Nurse Supervisor did not know the old portal was still active so they never look at it.
The “old” patient portal is still listed in the Fall River Health Services website, same as always. Below it is a link to “MyChart”. Having never heard of it, I had no idea that is the new portal and that is where messages, etc. are now handled.
The Nurse Supervisor I talked to was very concerned and helpful. I asked her how I was supposed to know about the portal change; she wasn’t sure. I suggested they let people know and that everyone that has a portal almost certainly also has an email address on file. She said she thought maybe they did send emails about the change. I pointed out neither my wife nor I got one.
She said “well I know we are trying to tell everyone who comes in the clinic or hospital about it”. I did visit there the first week of Jan. 2019, met with a Dr. and had a several tests. I counted seven care givers that spent 15 minutes or more with me that day and no one mentioned the portal change. I would not expect them to; that’s not their job – it’s managements job.
I have had more than one experience with communication being ignored at FRHS, and have personally had people tell me the same – they volunteered, I didn’t ask.
Turns out the FRHS MyChart is integrated with Regional Health so if you can’t get a passcode to get into MyChart you can get in by logging into your Regional Health portal which for us was automatically set up – and no data was lost.
FRHS is deleting everything on the old patient portal so all info including tests, etc. will not be available after 4/1/2019; maybe FRHS Med. Records dept. can help you tho.

It is a nice place
