UPDATE 01/29/19: Tried taking my husband in at 5am for an inability to urinate. The registration attendant, Marcy, started us off by asking inane questions like "why does the computer say you were in on this date and that date?" Clearly we're here at the EMERGENCY ROOM for show and tell. After a 5 minute check in process we waited 15 minutes in the waiting room before giving up and going to UPH Moline ER. Where we were seen immediately. I get that Illini is a trauma center and receives ambulances but a 15 minute wait time for an emergency is ridiculous. Staff your ED like it has a purpose.
Original 01/08/18: I'll start by saying that I got what I needed so I'm thankful for that. I was brought into the ER by ambulance after having 3 seizures within an hour. This is a diagnosed disorder I've had since childhood that is induced by vomiting. I have nausea medication at home that would not stay down. My goal was to get IV zofran to control the nausea until the stomach upset was settled enough to take my oral medication.
The nursing staff, phlebotomist, and registration attendant were all very kind and professional.
The physician, whose name I don't believe was ever given and doesn't appear on my discharge paperwork, could have been more helpful. Despite reporting the chief complaint as seizures to 911 dispatch, the paramedics, and the nursing staff when the physician came in he acted like I was just upset because I don't like throwing up. My husband tried to explain our concern was to stop the seizures and the physician cut him off to continue asking me useless questions. If we'd had the chance to explain what we needed it would have been a better experience. I feel like I could have spent fewer than 6 hours there if anyone had asked what my goal for the visit was.
After giving 2 different staff members my new pharmacy preference the prescription was still sent to an old pharmacy three cities away from my new home. Since I can't drive within 48 hours of losing consciousness and my husband had been awake for 24 hours and was tired the prescription was useless. Thankfully it was the same medication I have at home.
Had I known I would have signed a declination to transport after the paramedics gave IV zofran at my home and continued to treat with medication at home.
WAS a patient of LORI CLAYPOOL OB/GYN for my first pregnancy. Only ever saw her for two minutes every appointment, her nurses were better to me and more informative than she EVER was. I had an infection they gave me medication for, they never checked up on it after prescribing me this; 3 weeks before my due date my water broke, I started having HORRIBLE pains, not just contractions, went to their ER. Was asked by the receptionist if I could wait 10 minutes after telling her my water broke. (Seriously?) The nurses in the birth center tested me and said my water didn't break, brutishly checked my cervix and in doing so made me scream in pain, had the nerve to act like I was exaggerating, left me alone in the room crying in pain for 30 minutes, gave me no options to ease my pain, refused to admit me because I was not dilated enough and would not even let me lay down. I went home, came back after just a few hours because it worsened, THEY DID THE SAME THING TO ME AGAIN.
I went to UnityPoint Trinity in Moline after this where I ended up having my son. They made me comfortable as they possibly could. I found out later from them the infection had spread all the way to my placenta, they couldn't find a heartbeat in my son, and it was a miracle he even survived. He spent two weeks in the NICU.
LORI CLAYPOOL and anyone who was working 7/3/18 did nothing right by me. I scoff every time I see her face on a billboard. Suffering from depression she advised me to move back in with my mother which was no place of hers to say and made me extremely uncomfortable. She is weird, not helpful and I thank god I didn't trust her with my baby's life. Just go to Trinity over this s*** hospital
Was in and out in 1 1/2 hours. Included xrays. All staff very helpful and nice. Doctor and nurse very thorough!!
I've waited for 7 hours. When I went to the nurses desk in ER, the red curly headed nurse was RUDE July 24 @ 10:45a! I asked her if she knew when I would be discharged, and her response SHOULD have been "oh let me find out; what's your name, or what room are you in" She was like "I don't know who you are!" Great service to people who are sick. Like it would kill you to be nice to someone or maybe she was rude because I'm not white! Either way, anytime I've dealt with Genesis they're awful. Awful service, awful bedside manner
This place lost my trust. I couldn’t pee in a cup for them so they said they’ll hook me to an iv and wait till I gotta pee. Well 10mins later some old guy is stabbing me with a catheter needle and he had it in but pulled it back out and said that wasn’t it and said to pee for him I felt uncomfortable so I couldn’t and the nurse was all “do u have trouble peeing. Well duh I don’t wanna pee on someone that’s weird. But he kept poking me with that needle. I don’t understand why they couldn’t wait for me to have to go. I’ll never return to this hospital. Ik it was just one doctor and 2 nurses not the whole hospital but I think they need to work on being more paitent and comforting
