Kind of in dis belief. Not sure if short staffed or they just aren’t conserened. I tried to go to a different hospital but was forced to go here. Definitely not happy.
I took my grandfather to Grandview Medical Center due to his severe weakness and other illnesses he had been dealing with for a long time. My grandfather is a man who hates to be seen when he thinks unnecessary, but was so sick that he asked to be seen. As we entered the emergency room, we had a triage nurse who was so unkind and unpleasant. She could not take the time to look my grandfather in the eyes and use a pleasant tone. We waited 4 hours in the emergency room and then were placed into a room in the emergency room. The first doctor and nurses were great, taking the time to show that they cared. We even had a medical student who had the most amazing beside manner. Then we had a physician, Paul Zych MD, who was absolutely the most disrespectful and unprofessional health care professional I have ever encountered. He spoke impatiently and rudely to my grandfather and myself. He did not introduce himself or what title he was. When getting answers from my grandfather he interrupted often, was not gentle, and did not have a therapeutic approach what so ever. His attitude towards finding out what was happening with my grandfather was so negative and it made our family feel as though we were not important and a bother. As soon as he left, my grandfather felt discouraged to seek any more help. Please remember that although it may be a regular work day for you, your patient's have so much going on. This is the same day my grandfather was grieving the anniversary of my grandmother's death. My grandfather also has so much pain form conditions due to his time serving in the Marines during the Vietnam War. All veterans should deserve higher respect than what was given. You never truly know what people are going through. No matter how many hours a shift may be or how many days a week you work, patient care and patient advocacy should always trump everything. We were very upset with this emergency visit. My family would like to extend our thanks to the incredible staff that was very therapeutic at the time, regardless of the negatives.
I was at Grandview for a full right knee replacement by Dr. Javernick. This was a fantastic combination. The surgery started on time, and ended a bit early. The pre-operative prep was maticulous and everything was well explained.
I felt minimal post-operative pain, and within three hours of the surgery, I actually felt no pain.
The hospital is a fantastic facility. All staff I interacted were polite, good-natured and professional. All my needs were anticipated and I felt very pampered.
And the food is fantastic! I kid you not! It is 5 star restaurant type food, that you select off an ala cart menu. I almost tried to stay an extra night to get another dinner.
Everything, including the fantastic food, is planned and designed to ensure a safe surgery and a speedy recovery, with a minimum possibility of post-op complications.
I've been in here since yesterday and once I was transported here I've had nothing but bad experiences. This place is dirty and also no private rooms. I'm suffering from kidney stones and cant even sleep because I've got a roomate and it took 2 hours for anyone to come introduce themselves and give me meds. Whenever I hit the nurse button it takes damn near an hour for somebody to come in here. I asked for my meds arounds 630 and didn't get them til after 7. My nurse was arguing with me because it was shift change but honestly I shouldnt be neglected because you wanna leave early. No one checks on you for anything. You have to call them if u need anything. I've never been to a hospital like this
I've had two experiences with this medical facility. The first one was less than satisfactory when a head nurse in the ER was very rudetor my mother and refused to listen to my son concerning his condition. I'm now still waiting from about 4am this morning for them to place my son into a room. It's 1030am. Erstaff doesn't respond to alarms in a timely manner. There needs to be improvement in many areas.
