Staff needs to be trained in customer service! I was in the financial department looking for information about coverage. I spoke with Veronica Melacios a financial counselor and she had a unwelcoming attitude and was very rude. I asked very simple questions and received responses by her such as "Don't put words in my mouth" She is not qualified and does not have the correct attitude to serve customers. She also called her supervisor which appeared to look like her home girl to talk to me because I did not appreciate her terrible attitude! I did not ask to speak with her supervisor but she insisted I have a word with her? Just received a letter in the mail saying that I dont qualify for coverage because the Federal Poverty limit is $1,800 in the whole country including California? In Alameda County, Oakland poverty limit is at $2,800 and SF the counties poverty limit is at $100,000 so disqualifying people based on the federal government's guide lines on the state level which is then at a county level poverty limit is misleading and not accurate!
Also, Veranica told her supervisor that I was recording her which was not the case but seeing that Highland Hospital is a public facility it's not illegal to record, which her supervisor stated. If I did have a video I would post it so everyone could see how unqualified some of the people working there are!
These people are not tax professionals and should not be allowed to look at you tax return but should be asking for a tax transcript! With information required to determine eligibility! I recall her stating, "Word to mouth you don't qualify."
Also, telling someone they are disqualified before even looking at a tax return is wrong because Veronica is turning people away without anyone looking to determining proper eligibility.
I will escalate my encounter with all the people that interacted with me!
