Follow the sign on the highway for a hospital as I was desperately in need throwing up trying to get to Springfield. Dr. Currie were on shift. Upon being admitted this provider walked into the room said we can't do anything for you you're not going to consult with any specialist here we're not going to do any Imaging. Treated me as if I was drug-seeking when I have a full script of pain medication. Very unprofessional. No continuity of care to pick the phone up and call somebody who could figure out this complex city that is causing insufferable existence. I have never been to an emergency room in which the doctor comes in and says because of your medical history we're not touching you go home and suffer until somebody else can get you an appointment with a provider. I think maybe this emergency room maybe more accustomed to sprains, strains and straightforward textbook care. When it comes to reaching outside the box and wanting to really help out not the average patient you're not going to get any kind of knowledge, expertise, or even offered any kind of consultation with the appropriate Specialists required. If you don't know what the problem is and you're not even willing to speak to somebody who may be able to figure it out what kind of doctor does that make you? When you go to bed at night and you wake up are you really helping people or are you just going through the motions? Holyoke money into the look of the facility and not enough money in to the doctors providing care to the community.

This hospital was such an awesome place BEFORE the new ER room! Not only are they slower now than when the ER was smaller, the staff is not the same. It doesn't have the friendly caring attitude or caring friendly doctors and nurses it once had. I now go to mercy hospital. Holyoke Medical center is not the same 👎

I admit this is only my second hospitalization, so not a lot to compare. Woke up with chest pain and shortness of breath. I am middle aged with no cardiac history of significance. I hesitated. Did I really need to go to the ER? Ambulance came. Requested Baystate. Ambulance personnel suggested Holyoke Hospital. Couple miles away, New ER, Baystate being slammed. If needed, could transfer to Baystate. So fairly new to Holyoke and wanting to support my community, I said sure. ER clean, new, staff responsive, impressive as they ruled out a heart attack. Great. I was ready to go home! Glitch. Was in atrial flutter. Wanted further work up. Reluctantly said ok. Chest pain, right? Had a room for me round 4. Got to the floor round 7:30. Room empty. Hungry, tired and now a little unsure. Ok. They went and found bed. Then later a chair and later a table. Never received breakfast. Finally mentioned that fact and received the most god awful soup and sandwich. Ok, have worked in hospitals and nursing homes for 35 years...how bad could it be? Choked down the driest sandwich but could not manage soup. Truly awful. Did not see the cardiologist till 6 pm! Staff was pleasant. Chris and Mike in transport the only bright spots! Gave a heart patient a 97 year old roommate with 9 broken ribs, oxycodone driven dementia, and hard of hearing. When she wasn’t screaming out WHAT TIME IS IT, she was commenting about the rat with the tag on its side in the corner. Now they wake you up with perpetual vital taking even though you are on a heart monitor which I can understand. But they didn’t coordinate mine with my roommate’s. Extremely loud when they came in, overhead lights flipped on with no warning, chairs dragged across room. I was so tired by day two, would have agreed to anything to get the hell out! Lived on PBJ sandwiches and just pushed to get out! Came home and slept for 16 hous. Ate a good meal. Feeling better, but still some symptoms that I will be going to Baystate cardiology to evaluate. I CANNOT RECOMMEND THIS FACILITY. Stay clear!!!

This Hospital has been undergoing a lot of upgrades. I haven't been there in a while but I've always had very good service here. The doctors are some of the best in the area and the staff are well trained to give the best care. Skip Bay State Hospital and come here for a much better experience.
