Horrible care! Too many patients and not enough nurses, doctors or radiology techs. They have horrible hygienic practices, I have seen nurses not use gloves or use the same gloves with various patients. The list goes on. This is one of the worst hospitals on the island.

This is a hospital that truly cares about it's community. Their employees are well-rounded, courteous and caring. They are kind, outgoing and are always there to help. I had the pleasure of doing disaster relief in Puerto Rico at this hospital after Hurricane Irma and Maria hit and had the pleasure of meeting the top-level and lower-level staff. They were all top notch in my book. I would recommend this hospital to anyone in Puerto Rico because these people will give life and limb to make sure you don't lose yours. Their only limitation is their lack of resources which would make the hospital that much better.

Trash. They treat their patients terribly, understaffed and outdated equipment. People have to wait for hours in the ER before service. Should be shut down.

TOURIST BEWARE!!!! I was in Puerto Rico on vacation and my youngest son (2 years old) started throwing up everything he ate. So after a couple of throw ups we decided to take him to the emergency room here. When we went in and the doctor claimed he was a little dehydrated which was not true hes just really pale and white. Then they said he needed an iv I said no he doesn't but the doctor insisted so I said whatever hes been nonstop maybe he is. So a nurse goes to put an iv and misses the vein twice. Then she got a vien and started squeezing blood into a tube for blood work. She squeezed half a tube and stopped when this guy nurse comes in he takes the tube of blood from her and starts arguing with her and says that's not gonna work and throws away the blood tube. Then he pokes him again on the other hand and puts the iv. So far hes been stabbed 4 times then they said they were going to put one bag of iv 2 hours later its shift change and the new doctor says no 1 bag is not enough he needs atleast 2 and most likely will be admitted which I was furious because that's wasn't necessary. He's had this virus over 3 times already being in daycare so I know they normally give kids zofran to stop the vomiting and they are good to go. So I get really upset with the doctor and hes like ok lets do the second bag and he will be fine so I said ok hes already here and stabbed with the iv let him do 1 more bag to be on the safe side. Then the 2nd bag is over I tell the nurse please get the discharge going she goes to get the doctor and he says no not yet now we need to wait an hour and do the blood work to make sure hes not dehydrated. At that point me and my husband were furious and told them to take his iv out we were leaving he only needed the medication and that's it. The nurse tells me he's a minor and you cant take him without discharge or they will call the police and children and family. Like really? I was furious the dr comes in and with the hospital supervisor and says we dont have to wait the hour they will redo the labs and just wait for the results I said ok fine but I want a nurse that will get the vein the first time or I'm leaving. They send in their "best nurse" and he stabs my poor son looking for the vein not once not twice not three time but FOUR TIMES AND NOTHING. Me and my husband lose it and tell him to stop, that they obviously have no pediatric experience and this is pretty much torturing the poor baby and he did. At that point I was videotaping everything and they said fine u can take him. Mean while this is a pediatric Emergency hospital. Butchering kids. They stuck him 8 times. I'm so furious. This hospital is horrible so is the staff. Not to mention they have not updated any of the tools and equipment in easily 10 years. DO NOT TAKE YOUR CHILDREN HERE! My two year old was left with bruises all over his arms. His local pediatrician in miami was shocked at how barbaric and unqualified this hospital was.
