I had to obtain form 408 mental health commitment paper that is obtained thru the court and approved by a judge. We arrive in emergency at 5:00 pm and it's 2:50 a.m. now! A series of test were done i.e. blood work, catscan, ekg. But the doctor supposedly evaluating my brother, came over looked at him and disappeared. I asked about the doctor and was told by the nurse that the doctor left for the day and wouldn't be back till 8:00 a.m.
I am currently in remission from ovarian cancer, was told I had to remain with him till evaluation time in the morning. I've been weaken by chemo to the extent that I suffer from vertigo and peripheral neuropathy (extreme numbness to feet and hands) and I can't even drive. I'm on various medications that I haven't take because I never considered that I would be in emergency so many hours. There should be a backup doctors for situations just like this. Nurses were fabulous, but Doc needs to reconsider why he took the hipocractic oath!
