Would recommend avoiding this hospital. Went a while back waited 8 hours in the emergency room to be seen for a half hour and then billed over $500 for an x ray and a blood test. Was never sent a bill just put directly into collections for no real help. Left in worse shape then when I went.

Thank to to nurse Pat and nurse Scott for your good energy and great personalities and for taking your time to make me feel better and give me the attention that I needed. This was my first stay at a hospital so it was very scary for me. But these two made me feel cared for and they really boosted my spirits.

We had an unfortunate medical emergency that wound up with my mother being rushed to the hospital in an ambulance. Medical staff were great in doing what needed to be done, but once she was stabilized, they rushed her out the door because she had been uninsured at her new job. Two weeks later her job let her go because of getting sick, and she wound up being unemployed for 6 months. We worked out payment arrangements for the medical bills with EVERY provider to make monthly payments. Jefferson decided that they did not want to cooperate with the payment plan they agreed to and sent the bill to collections, destroying her credit in the process. The bill department now says that there is nothing they can do now that it has been sent that way. We intend to pursue every legal course of action we can. If you find yourself in an emergency situation and have no insurance, DO NOT COME TO THIS HOSPITAL. They will ruin your financial lives over a medical emergency.

People can trash this hospital all they want, in a real emergency the staff is tops! I was rushed here last night when I had an allergic reaction to medication and started to go into shock! I had difficulty breathing, was red and itchy and shaking uncontrollably. They took me back and immediately started an IV. Within 5min I started feeling better and within 10/15 I was normal again. They kept checking up on me too and not just the staff, but the doctor himself. I owe this place my life!!

If I could, I would leave the stars blank because of the deplorable communication about the plan of action amidst the staff to each other and the patients. The patients are not the priority. I had to explain my situation to each staff member because the last person didn't input the information into the system or they put the wrong information. They did unnecessary bloodwork, one of which was pregnancy test despite the fact I had told many staff members that I had had a hysterectomy in 2011. When I was admitted, I asked for someone to come help me with an advanced directive but no one showed. I also asked to see the doctor so I could talk to them about what's going on. She didn't come in until 1900 and she didn't know what was going on. I had to explain my situation to her. By that time I was more than livid about the lack of respect for the staff and the patients. I let her know that my concern was lack of communication and that I would like her to keep me abreast of what was going on. She left, but I had no confidence in her. I was proved correct when the RN came in to give me fluids and a warfrin type of medication which I clearly didn't need. I refused it because no one spoke to me about it. I had an allergic episode at 3AM and took my own medication. I called the RN and told her what I had done. She told me I wasn't allowed to do that; I said I understood and I went back to sleep. Later on, the overnight doctor woke me up to mansplain that same concept. I told him I'd wait for the doctor to talk to me in the morning. Now, I'm being discharged with no information other than to go see my primary care physician for a referral to an allergist.
