If I could, I would leave the stars blank because of the deplorable communication about the plan of action amidst the staff to each other and the patients.
The patients are not the priority. I had to explain my situation to each staff member because the last person didn't input the information into the system or they put the wrong information. They did unnecessary bloodwork, one of which was pregnancy test despite the fact I had told many staff members that I had had a hysterectomy in 2011.
When I was admitted, I asked for someone to come help me with an advanced directive but no one showed. I also asked to see the doctor so I could talk to them about what's going on. She didn't come in until 1900 and she didn't know what was going on. I had to explain my situation to her. By that time I was more than livid about the lack of respect for the staff and the patients. I let her know that my concern was lack of communication and that I would like her to keep me abreast of what was going on. She left, but I had no confidence in her. I was proved correct when the RN came in to give me fluids and a warfrin type of medication which I clearly didn't need. I refused it because no one spoke to me about it.
I had an allergic episode at 3AM and took my own medication. I called the RN and told her what I had done. She told me I wasn't allowed to do that; I said I understood and I went back to sleep. Later on, the overnight doctor woke me up to mansplain that same concept. I told him I'd wait for the doctor to talk to me in the morning.
Now, I'm being discharged with no information other than to go see my primary care physician for a referral to an allergist.
