feedback about Mary Washington Hospital, Inc
In September, I was taken to Mary Washington Hospital with a suspected stroke. I had friends follow the ambulance to the hospital as my husband was out of town, and they could relay all information to my husband. Yea, how wrong was that. I arrived to the emergency room around 1:00 pm on Saturday afternoon. I was assigned a male nurse who was furious because they assigned him to me as I was a possible stroke patient and when you are a stroke patient, you are assigned an emergency room nurse who stays with you the entire time you are in the emergency room, even when they take you for MRI, CT Scan, etc. To make a long story short, all the emergency room nurse (a male nurse) did was moan, groan, and complain about having to stay with me and about his co-workers. When he came into my assigned room, he was so grumpy, I commented on it, and his reply was that for a person in my condition having a possible stroke, I should be happy he was there to assist. For several hours I kept requesting that my friends come to my assigned room so I could let them know what was going on and they could relay the information to my husband, and I was told that he did not have the time to worry about that. I was still in the emergency room at 8 pm when I was told they were going to keep me as every time they took the oxygen off me, my level would go way down and since it was a possible stroke with oxygen issues, I was going to the ICU to be watched. My husband called several times and talked to this nurse and my husband says he would not tell him anything. At one point, they had words over the telephone that weren't to promising either. Finally, when I asked to when I was going to be able to speak with my husband, the female nurse went after my male nurse and he came back with cell phone for me to call him. When I asked him why my friends were not allowed to come back, he got defensive stating he did not stop them from coming to my room. It was 1000 pm and still my friends in the waiting area were never allowed to come to my room. When I was taken to ICU, half of my clothing was missing, thus I had nothing to leave the hospital in 5 days later, and every time I asked about the clothes, there was no concern as to their whereabouts. After my stay in ICU, I was moved to a regular room, and the nurses there were just as bad. The only decent person in that hospital was the individual responsible for assisting me to the rest room. During the entire stay, I was never cleaned up and was not able to get out of the bed on my own to get that way, as there was no movement of my left side. I can go on and on about my care at this hospital, but if you want to live should you have the need to go to the hospital, I would select any hospital besides Mary Washington. If the nurses do not like their jobs, maybe they need a new profession.
Went to emergency and had a catheter put in on 2018-10-25. When the nurse put it in, it caused trauma and bleeding. They collected three bags of liquid from my bladder. The last bag was red with blood. Send me home with the catheter. Drove home to Maryland. When I got home the catheter tube clogged with blood and I had to go to emergency at local hospital. For about 2 hours stay at Mary Washington emergency room, the charge was $1,344.00. For 12 hours of emergency room stay at local hospital the charge was $724.44. I received constant care and irrigation of my bladder at the local hospital. The only service at Mary Washington was a catheter that gave me bleeding.
My mother was having a very hard time breathing so we went here since it was the closest one. We got there and read the self check in and it said " If you are having a hard to breathing speak to a nurse immediately" so we told him and they checked her out for a little bit. Then we went to the waiting room to be put in a regular room. We got there at 9 PM and got put in a room at 12 30 AM. While we were in the waiting room there was a man calling a nurse fat and being rude then blowing his snot all on the floor with out using a tissue. Anyways we got to the room and it took another hour just for somebody to come in. The Doctor Mr Johnson was pretty good and the female with him wasn't bad either. They told us around 2 AM that they would be holding her over night. Then at 4 AM my father and I decided to go home to get some rest then come back. Little did we know that they hadn't moved her at this time it was 1 PM the next day. She complained to them about pain and the doctor said that they had to wait till she was due to her next dose but she never had one to begin with. So a nurse or someone scanned her and charged her money for something she didn't take. Then come to find out that she was asking for something to eat. Later last night and they hadn't given her anything except a cup of water the whole time. This really made my father mad. Once we got her some food. They finally admitted her. My suggestion to you is that if you or a loved one is in need of help dont come here. I did not feel safe the whole time I was here. Please dont make a mistake go to a different hospital.
Horrible. They are treating my father horrible. The nurses won't respond to him as if the can't hear him. They have no answers and are completely rude. NEVER again. I can't stress enough if you love someone please go anywhere else. My father is still in ER and we are all being treated very very badly.
My mom stayed there and had two mini strokes had to be placed on dialysis, developed a horrific bed sore that was no concern of theirs. I had heard terrible things about this hospital and they were all true. She went in for COPD and now she can hardly walk
