Went to emergency and had a catheter put in on 2018-10-25. When the nurse put it in, it caused trauma and bleeding. They collected three bags of liquid from my bladder. The last bag was red with blood. Send me home with the catheter. Drove home to Maryland. When I got home the catheter tube clogged with blood and I had to go to emergency at local hospital. For about 2 hours stay at Mary Washington emergency room, the charge was $1,344.00. For 12 hours of emergency room stay at local hospital the charge was $724.44. I received constant care and irrigation of my bladder at the local hospital. The only service at Mary Washington was a catheter that gave me bleeding.
My daughter came to the ER for severe pains on her left lower side. They sent her for a CT scan which showed nothing. The tech asked her if she asked my daughter if she was ever told she had diverticulitis and my daughter said yes. When the doctor came in he told her he didn't see anything. Never once did he look or touch her side. They was already in her room cleaning it for someone else and another patient was outside the room on a stretcher. I work for Sentara so I see a major problem with the care of my daughter especially with the quality of care
I brought my child to the ER. It was very busy and we decided to go back home. The nurse at the window said we could not leave because my child was a minor. She called her supervisor to make a big stink. Her supervisor said that she could not force us to stay. As we were leaving the nurse said to us that she did not care about us either way. My daughter and I were shocked to hear this. Take your family to spotsy Regional the wait is less and the staff is friendly.
This hospital is terrible. I don’t know if they’re understaffed or just don’t care. You can ring the bell for something and it’ll take 30 minutes to even get a nurse in there. You wait in the ER forever & all of the nurses aren’t exactly polite. My nurse Leigh did the bare minimum & told me I was needy for needing to use the bathroom.. then didn’t even take me to go when i was hooked up to the IV. then I got a new nurse and still got checked on by the medic from the ER more than her. They’re lucky to have a few nice people that work there to keep me sane enough until I got transferred to VCU.
I have gave birth to both my children at Mary Washington hospital and had great experiences both times. All the nurses on the mother baby ward were very kind and the support and follow up the hospital provides was amazing. Would definitely recommend.
