McPherson Hospital

Hospital was clean, staff was very compassionate! But I did go there too see one of their doctors not another part owner of Salina regional ? I thought it was privately owned?

I went to the emergency room with severe lower abdominal pain in the area of where my appendix is located. Not being a doctor, I had no idea what was going on and thought that due to a history of appendix problems in my family, it could have been appendicitis and possibly on the verge of rupturing. However, after several hours and testing, Dr. Hellman told me that it was Diverticulitis and I was prescribed medications to resolve the problem. After that, being released I went home thinking that all was going to be OK. A few weeks later, I received a bill from the hospital and when I viewed it, I almost fell out of my chair due to it being so large. Dr. Hellman wrote his report which my insurance company received a copy of and Dr. Hellman, in his report, stated that my situation was NOT an emergency. My question to Dr. Hellman is How in the Hell was I supposed to know my problem was not an emergency as I have NEVER been trained in the medical field and only know what my body feels at any given time. I did that little press and release test where the appendix are generally located. When I performed this test, I was ready to climb the walls with pain. What was I supposed to do, make an appointment and hope for the best?? Really, Dr. Hellman??? I will NEVER allow this doctor to treat me again for any reason if he is going to blindside me this way. Very Unprofessional!!!

Came to get help just moved here from another state and threw my back out can barly move. I waited over 3 hrs to see a doctor. No nurse checked on me at all I had to ring her several times to find out when the doctor was coming to see me, she would say in awhile and were busy. No pain relief what so ever while I waited. Also when the doctor finally came in he did a little examination and did not xray or an MRI because they only do it on certain days. Basically he did not do anything for me. He just based everything off me having a history of back issued. He did order stariods for me to get at pharmacy. So this was not an enjoyable experience for being new in town.

Shout out to Memorial Hospital staff for taking such great care of me! Dr. Hellman, Dr. Bieber, Tracy Macy and male nurse whose name I can’t remember but he was awesome! As well as the techs , admin and the EMT who helped me! Everyone was wonderful!
