1st off the nursing staff in the children's admitted unit deserves a million billion stars- they are the best nursing staff anyone could hope for to care for their sick children- THEY DESERVE A MILLION BILLION STARS!! This star score is for them- they are wonderful. *** Please let the neurologists know that you need a prescription for the embrace alert watch that he suggests for seizures. Thank you

We’ve just been through one of the most worrying times of our parenting lives, and the nurses and doctors at Medical City Children’s Dallas were just amazing. They did not give up until we had a diagnosis for our sons condition. They took time with us, were very thorough researching across a team of doctors and specialists, were patient with our son and took excellent care of him and our family. Not everyone can do what they do, it takes a very special kind of person and this hospital has them.

My newborn was in the care of Dr. Sandell and Dr. Fanning at Medical City Dallas- Children’s. The whole story is too long to type here, but Dr. Sandell’s lack of medical professionalism and attention to our son, who was admitted to PICU for rhinovirus as a newborn, was unacceptable. Due to her not wearing proper PPE, nor a badge, nor introducing herself as the doctor, I was unaware who she was for several of the days we were in the PICU. She came into my son’s room without dressing in the proper protective gear to protect him and others patients on the floor (viral infection). She even started an exam without wearing a mask, we had to ask her to put one on. She also never saw him two of the days.. meaning a doctor never examined a newborn in PICU for two whole days, until I complained about it. Dangerous. She also was the doctor overseeing a feeding tube issue that I knew was wrong from the moment it went in my son, but was ignored for four days, then finally another doctor did an X-ray to show it was incorrect and needed to be redone. The lack of communication during his care resulted in two very dangerous situations for my son including his oxygen flow and bottle feeding. Then Dr. Fanning was on shift. All I’ll say about this is that he and his staff were encouraging us to discharge and head home, when my son was actually in respiratory distress. Had we not driven straight to another hospital, our son likely would have died. I should not have had to monitor these doctors and their staff like I did to ensure my son was safe. Also to mention that I had requested to transfer to another hospital on a Sunday. I had not heard anything from the social worker or patient advocate that we were actually approved for a transfer, until I followed up with them on the following Wednesday. This delay in communication resulted in us not getting the care he needed at a different hospital, due to all of the issues outlined above. I only write this to warn parents that you should not blindly trust doctors and their staff. I hate to publicly comment on such a private matter, but hoping this helps someone in the future who might be under these Doctor’s care. They need to be held accountable, it’s not okay to be so dismissive of any patient, let alone a newborn who was as sick as my son was.

This hospital is by far the BEST hospital I’ve ever taken my child to. Every time I have taken my child there due to her sickness or asthma, the nurses, doctors & staff have all been so caring, helpful and accommoding to her needs. They put you at ease from the very beginning and make sure your child is at 100% before they discharge them. I want to thank these nurses and doctors for all they do! Their work is greatly appreciated. -just a thankful mama.
