Have to pay 7000 dollars in tests for my baby because one NP took her pulse, and she claimed it was low. The low pulse was never confirmed by any other medical staff, and any other time she was checked, it was in the normal range. The NP in question had a bad attitude the second she came into the room, did a poor job handling our baby. She was taken to an EKG with no real explanation as to why. No clear answers on the results of the EKG, but were coerced to stay an additional night for a followup EKG. They found nothing abnormal, but cardiologist insisted on an echocardiogram, to rule out any possibilities. While this was going on, we were never once sat down with, to discuss risks or get proper information on what was going on.

We were coerced into staying unnecessary additional days and to have unnecessary testing when our second baby was born. One NP claimed that the baby had a low pulse. This was never confirmed by any of the other nursing staff or doctors. This lead to a litany of unnecessary testing and time in the hospital resulting in multiple thousands of dollars of additional billing.

On top of that, they billed the mother of my child $3,000 for two days of Room and Board, then turned around and billed another $3,000 dollars to my new born baby for the same room.

Frankly, I am furious.

Other than the NP in question, the care we received was excellent. I just find it borderline criminal that this hospital can bill $23,000.00 for a vaginal delivery.

From the moment I arrived at the hospital, until I left, EVERYONE: Valet staff, the lady standing between the two main East entrance double-doors, Front Desk, Admitting, Lab technician, and Nuclear Med staff, provided PHENOMENAL patient services! This was the case for each of my 4 visits to Morton Plant Hospital last week. It is refreshing and much appreciated!

My most recent visit was July 10 for a knee replacement. I stayed in the Doyle Tower room 410 which is like a classy hotel instead of a hospital! Large private room, huge glass windows, wide hallways... very nice!

Yes, you do have the usual wakeups at night for vitals but other than that, it was very quiet for sleep. They even supply ear buds, an eye shield, ear plugs. It makes you feel like they honestly care about your comfort.

Everyone I had contact with before and during my visit were pleasant and friendly. I wish I had written down all the names of the great nurses and techs I had. But I'm sure you may be able to figure them out. One favorite tech was Chris, he was such a kind and caring person.

Everyone who helped me in physical therapy were great. Even the food was good. I loved the chicken quesadilla for lunch, sweet strawberries, grapes, egg whites for breakfast.

If there was anything that bothered me, it was the new drug law that went into effect July 1. That had nothing to do with the hospital but our state. But Dr. Herrama was able to adjust my meds to control my pain.

I have spent many visits to Morton Plant and consider this the best hospital in the area! Thank you for the excellent care.

I do not recommend this place if you are planing on giving birth to your child. They will force you to stay another 24 hrs just for the sake of charging you. Received medical bill, they charged the insurance $10,000 plus anesthesiologist about $4400. I stayed there for 24 hrs only because I didn't feel that it was necessary to stay 48 hrs and told them in advance and they told me that it shouldn't be a problem as long as baby and I were ok( they gave me B.S excuses and lies to convinve me to stay even said that they would call child protective services for what?? so they told us to make an appointment with a pediatrician on a Saturday. Yet we had to call the hospital pediatrician twice before they sent the ARNP to come see the baby). Back to the charges I called to get an itemized bill which they should give you but they don't. I was charged about 6k for labor but my doctor was already paid ( part of the OB visits)and anesthesiologist fees so why am I receiving double charges ?? Save yourselves the trouble the system is crooked and have your baby at home if you have a normal pregnancy. Nurses were great, Lauren was an orientee and she went above and beyond. The baby nurse ( looked Indian to me) was terrible and rough with the baby and also inconsiderate. She left her kiosk in the room and would come back and forth several times in the room without knocking and talking loud. Her phone rang several times and instead of stepping out she'd answer it loudly and none of those calls were related to my care and the fact that I just delivered a baby and needed some rest. Soon after that I was transfered to another room on the recovery floor. Angela was excellent and compassionate. The unit manager on the other hand is a crook!! Sarah the case manager was professional and sweet.
