Please don't judge all the doctors or all the departments by the emergency room staff's bad behavior. I agree the emergency room doctors are rude with a very bad bedside manner and the people that check you in could care less what your issue is because you will wait a very long time up to 5 to 7 hours easy and that is on a slow night. Never use Phelps Emergency room but the pediatrics department was awesome. They put me in pediatrics after a complicated hysterectomy and it was the best care I ever had. My husband had surgery with Dr. Potter and both he and the out patient facility staff was wonderful. I gave two stars because of how horrible the emergency room is.
Emergency room is bad. Very slow service, no actual medicine and a huge bill for saline(just purified water). Came in for 500 blood sugar and they just sat me in a room and gave me water. They did check for ketones (fairly simple blood test) however but not sure why the bill was nearly $2000.
By far, the WORST ER I have ever been to. Never come here if you have a problem and need to be seen quickly. I was here on what appeared to be a slow night and one lady was in tears after being stood up for 7 hours without service. I am currently waiting on 4 hours with internal bleeding.
Never heard of a hospital that does NOTHING for their patients except give them a hard time. I was in the medical field for over 16 years and NEVER have I seen or heard anything like it. ER Staff it is tantamount to torture according to the UN, not to treat a patient for pain. Shame on you!!!! I wish I had read all the reviews before my brother came to Phelps. It is very strange that MOST of the reviews say the same things, ER wait is ridiculous, people laying on the floor in pain, crying, sick, vomiting and unable to help themselves for HOURS. My brother told me the employee that checks in patients calls the floor (hers), she said "get off MY floor." he had fallen. Wrong diagnosis, if any. They laugh at patients in pain, what the heck are you people running, a concentration camp? This entire review is directed at the ER, Doctors, Nurses and clerical employees. Oh and by the way not even offered a drink of water in 6 hours. I'm turning Phelps ER into Medicare, The State Health and Safety for seniors and anyone else who will listen to me and read my complaints. This place is unbelievable, certainly doesn't qualify as a, "Care Facility", I DON'T THINK THEY KNOW THE MEANING OF THE WORD. I hope Administration reads these reviews of their hospital, if so, do something!!!!
Came in with high blood sugar. Waited in the waiting room after having my sugar taken and getting blood work done. Treated like I was asking for pain meds or like I was on something despite just being anxious and having a dangerous sugar. I feel humiliated and upset about the whole experience. I wish there was another hospital in the area I could go to instead.
