Broke my lumbar and they made me sit in waiting room for close to an hour. I begged them to give me a place to lay down but they refused to help me. I was in so much pain and only wanted to lay down until they called me back but that never happened. After an hour of waiting and pacing while trying to keep my mind off the pain, they finally brought me back and assessed my situation and took x-rays to tell me I fractured my lumbar. They gave me a shot, prescribed me medication for the pain and sent me off.
Just got my [RIDICULOUS] bill for the awful visit. So, I crash my truck because of a deer, break my lumbar and now I don't even own a vehicle and they're wanting half my year's salary for the horrible visit.
I really despise the health system in America.
EDIT: I forgot to mention another awful visit that happened before the aforementioned visit. I had a terrible stomach ache, a bug like no other, where even sitting down was painful quite similar to breaking my lumbar.. Well, I was too sick to function. When they called me back, they administered medication to me and out of nowhere I had no time to react, I vomited all over the floor. I felt so bad about it but I really couldn't help it. I stayed in the bathroom afterwards until I knew I wouldn't puke again.
Well, the nurse that was outside of my room was extremely rude. She was not happy that I puked. She was very passive aggressive and didn't show me any empathy for my situation. I went to school for Medical Administrative Assistant and Phlebotomy and let me tell you, the first chapter of the book I had to read for MAA covered how important showing empathy to all patients is.
It's a hospital so people are going to come here no matter how poorly reviewed this hospital is. I can say though that once I move up north I'll be glad to be away from all of Phoebe hospitals.
