My husband was in ICU with pneumonia. Thanks to "vapotherm" he was able to stay in Putnam County Hospital without having to go Indy. This enabled the family to stay close to home and check each day without spending time and miles to travel to Indy. The care was exceptional. ALL the staff was professional and courteous. Our experiences have been good with this hospital.

I took my father into have some blood work done. He was not feeling well at all and was in pain. He has a hard time getting from one place to another. When we walked in the young girl at the front was very polite and helped him get settled in a chair. It was on a Wednesday and the waiting area had 4-5 people waiting. After almost an hour only one person had been called back. I went and asked how much longer and she was surprised we were still sitting and had. It been back to get blood drawn. She apologized. After another 45 minutes it was finally his turn. When we walked back to the lab I was shocked. There were 6 people sitting doing nothing. Two were sitting on the counters and all were on their cell phones. The eye roll we got and attitude when they had to help us was unbelievable. He didn’t want to be there anymore than they did. He was not feeling well and had been made to wait almost two hours. Not to mention the fact that with that many sitting around we could have been helped much sooner. They were very rude and made us feel like a bother. I waited at the counter while they took care of my dad. While I waited I watched the girls sit on their phones. No small talk, no customer service. I asked to speak with the manager. They told me that he was not in and I could call if I wanted. It was very upsetting. That is the last time we will be going there

I must say that I don’t like to get blood drawn or needles at all. It is something I have never enjoyed, but if it has to be done I would never return to this hospital. It was clear that I was an inconvenience and being gentle is not something the staff can do. They were gossiping about an ER nurse that apparently gave one of them a dirty look. The girl taking my blood was way too involved in that conversation to care she was making it uncomfortable to me. The young girl she was gossiping with was too busy with her feet up on the counter blocking her view of me to see my discomfort. There is a huge lack of professionalism. I have heard that the wait times are long, but my 40 minutes wait was the least of my concerns.

Horrible, unless you are suicidal.

Both of my parents participated in the Swing Bed Program. For both of them, it was a welcome alternative to rehab/therapy at a nursing home. With a private room, & very attentive staff, there was no comparison. I would highly recommend it to anyone who has had a recent medical situation & physically isn't quite ready to go home.
